<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(mike_m @ Jun 2 2006, 09:42 AM) </div> GREAT RIMS...where did you get them, how much and how do they ride?
I got them from Toyota as an Option, they were about 1500, and they ride like any other 17" tire, kinda rough, but not too bad. The looks totally make up for any deficiency in ride.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(mike_m @ Jun 2 2006, 01:42 PM) </div> I think I'm gonna really like Magnetic Gray and I'm considering tinting this time. The wheels really look nice, but I personally wouldn't do it for the price. In addition to the $$ and the impact to the ride, isn't there a MPG performance hit too?
Where did you get the side moldings and who applied them? What type of tint did you get and where was it done? I need to find out who will do this type of work in S. Florida on my new 06 magnetic gray prius. Smurf
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(AnOldHouse @ Jun 2 2006, 05:09 PM) </div> The wheels were worth it to me. I came from a CTS, and have to have some style in my ride. I just got home from my first trip where I drove the car for about 1 hour. I averaged 41 MPG at 75MPH. Not bad with 60 whole miles on the car. I'm sure once it get broken in, I can get at least 45+ MPG. I was averaging 18 with my CTS. So.... even if I only get 40, I'm stoked. BTW, the ride was just as good as my CTS. I have never had that soft ride that floats all over the highway. I have always driven sports cars.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(mike_m @ Jun 2 2006, 12:42 PM) </div> Ahhhh - looks great! I should post some of my magnetic grey as well. I do like the tint and the rims.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(smurf @ Jun 2 2006, 06:20 PM) </div> Hi Smurf, You can get the mouldings here: http://priuschat.com/shop/product_info.php/products_id/57. I did them myself in less than an hour. The directions were right on the spot. It was pretty simple. The tint was done here in Orlando, and...well, it's dark . If you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself, you could probably get any body shop to put the moldings on for 20-30 bucks, I'd guess. It would probably take a pro about 20 minutes.
Mike, Thanks for showing us the SE region PIO wheels. I had a Black/Tan #8 on order with those wheels, but the dealer delivered a #7 with PIO leather so I killed the deal. Now I've got a White/Tan #8 with stock wheels and have been sitting on the fence about wheels. Are you in the Orlando area? I'm also a high performance car guy and it's been hard adjusting. I'd really like to compare handling and ride if you have the time. Also, Have you had a chance to weigh the wheels? The stockers are very light. TIA, Brian BT brace, Lower front brace on order.
Your passenger side windshield wiper is sticking way up on the window itself. Is that supposed to be the "parked" position for the wiper? My 2005 parks way the heck down.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(AnOldHouse @ Jun 2 2006, 08:25 PM) </div> When mine are parked they are also lower (the blades stay on the blackened part of the glass.) I'm guessing the blades are in the spot where you just tap the "one wipe" option on the stalk but let go before the blade actually goes up past the "point of no return." So then instead of going through the cycle of up and down the blade just stops a couple inches above its normal resting spot. Try it.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(AnOldHouse @ Jun 2 2006, 11:25 PM) </div> Not quite sure why it was like that. It rained here yesterday, and after I turned the wipers off, they were both down in the black part of the windshield. Thanks for seeing that.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(mike_m @ Jun 3 2006, 09:16 PM) </div> Thank you. I'm sure that was just one of those funny points where they were turned off where they can't park properly. I thought that might have been some odd little change for the 2006's.
I really enjoy seeing what other owners do to customize their ride, and i really like what you've done to yours. Especially the wheels. How do the Pirelli tires ride?? do you like 'em? Looks great!! congratulations!!
dat ride iz DA BOMB fo sho! Wonder what something like that would look like with those reflective silver window tints... h34r:
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Rangerdavid @ Aug 14 2006, 09:11 PM) </div> Thanks! They ride pretty decent. Right now, they aren't on the car. I am doing a gas mileage experiment. It's not looking good, either. I put the stocks on, and am gtting 6-7 MPG better mileage They are really heavy at 43.5 lbs. per corner. That's alot of unsprung weight added. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Mystery Squid @ Aug 15 2006, 11:11 AM) </div> That would probably look pretty schweet! I'm sure somebody can modify a pic. I saw a pic of a 2 door convertible on here yesterday, and then Galaxee's car with blackouts on the head and tail lights!
I love that color! I wish they had it in '05. Hell I wish i had a choice. Sacramento only had 2 in the whole damn city when I bought mine
