Hello everybody. I've been following PC for the past month with great interest. Previously I've been tempted to try the Prius but chickened out and got something else instead. Then just out of boredom while she-who-must-be-obeyed was at her hairdressers in the city I popped into the Toyota dealer and was hooked. We took a 60 mile road test and both fell in love (with a G4 Business edition is like a US 3, I think). Having placed my order back in July, just managed to chase up things as no car had been allocated to me. Turns out my red one's on the line right now and expected mid to late October. It's like waiting for your first born to arrive, or is it just me??? Now I look forward to sharing news etc with you guys. You seem a very interesting bunch.
Not just you. Welcome to PriusChat. I also had a several month wait, until this appeared one morning.
Thanks Don. Yes this is the colour to go for, though they're all great looking. That's why Toyota used it in their adverts Hi booke02. Loved your acronyms. Seems there's a lot for me to learn here!
I absolutely love the red. I got a white instead. I live in a mountain area and white doesn't show scratches as much. Also, any color shows the road dust like crazy (yes... dirt roads). White cars don't show it as much. The practical side won.
Your story was one of the first I read and your knowledge is impressive. Following you learning as you went as well as imparting from your own experience. Thanks.
My previous Prius was Blizzard Pearl, I liked the color. My wife not so much. We took my granddaughter to a country fair this past weekend. Parking was off a dirt road in a field and yes, a lot of dust just settled onto my car. It got sprayed off and washed Monday morning.
It seems as though I'm washing it every other day. I did put three coats of spray on wax on it when I first brought it home last week. That's all I had on hand. The car had water spots on it. It had been sitting at a dealership down in Bakersfield for three months. That's nasty air down there and I imagine a couple rainstorms deposited all that crap on that virgin surface. I did manage to get them off the windows. I can't see them on the paint. So... this weekend it will get a proper wash, clay bar, sealer, and wax. If I can't see the spots at least I should be able to smooth them out. I did register a complaint with the dealership so if I can't get them out, they said they would take care of it. I don't trust them much and they are an hour away. Besides, I really want to KNOW that it has been done right.
Here in south west England there are many single track roads but I stay mostly off the dirt, but our red Honda CRV sure attracts the dirt anyway. Washing it invariably brings rain here and road grime shows really bad then. When it's bad here I envy your favourable climates, but it's just another case of swings and roundabouts, (er, carrousels over there).
I'm hopeful we'll get some rain within the next couple of months. That seems to pack down the dust some. This summer has been brutal. Just enough scattered rain to wash all the solution out of the air and spot all those pretty new cars on dealers' lots. Once we get into the winter season (November through mid January), it will be much better for dust on my shiny new car. I'm hopeful we'll get some rain then.
Thanks but I'm still in the wishing state for now. Delivery will I hope be by end of October! Thanks BISCO been watching your chats a while too ☺
