Got my Dorman battery, Any tips?!

My math points to your gift card being in the $45 range.
Its a fairly easy project, perhaps you can prep the car for him by removing the interior panels

If you're not rebuilding the battery, just installing a Dorman, then chances are, you don't need the safety gloves. You won't really be touching anything dangerous. Just make sure you plug in the orange HV plug at the very end of what you're doing.

Those gloves are really used when you're opening up the battery pack to rebuild. That's when you're exposed to high voltage. There are many sharp edges to the battery case, which can easily tear/rip into those really expensive gloves, so best not to use them unless you're opening up the case.

Good luck with the install....it's really quite simple, just need some strong muscles!

Having recently removed/repaired my '06, I looked at the dorman youtube video and they covered it pretty well. Remember: removing the orange safety plug is the very first thing you do during removal and the very last thing you do after installation.

Not true. There are other times, like removing the safety plug, where the gloves should be used. Take a look at the Dorman video for info.

Never drive in B. You don't need to do anything to "get her going good", just drive. The computers will take care of the battery. If you want to see a full battery drive down a mountain.

 

^^^what he said^^^ battery should hover around 6 blue bars under typical conditions, will drop to 2 purple in certain conditions, or fill to all green on a huge down hill or certain high speed driving. congrats!

Whoops!, I just replaced the second Dorman battery two weeks ago, still under warranty, and can do it in about two hours by myself now. The first battery lasted about 7 months, the second one about 5 months. The first warranty claim was quick, the second one took about a week longer because they feel there was something my car was responsible for that caused the failures. The warning lights all cleared with the new install, left the 12v connected the whole time. Is there some way the check for something that might be responsible for the battery failures before it happens again? I had no prior warning or CEL before the failures(all 4) but I was parked in exactly the same parking space at the same time of day each time when they occurred. About 4 pm sun shining into the back of the car. I did get about 180k on the original and less than 3k on the toyota rebuild before I went with the dorman. I have about 25k on the two dormans now and starting the third. Anyone else go through this too?
