t-i-c, but not knocking your choice either. just funny how some people have a hard to jumping technologies.
Mine was purely financial, but I do agree. I run 99% of my tech on the bleeding edge.....love the challenge. But the things that came with the Prii above mine didn't appeal to me.
I want to know how the guy could manage 300mi electric in one day. 40mi on a charge, let's just say an hour to be cheap with math. 4hrs to charge, so 5hrs for a 40mi cycle. Over 7 times charging and you are way over a day. Even with a new Volt and pushing it to 60mi on a "tank" would make it very hard to hit in 24hrs.
Doesn't the gen4 report the number of 'EV miles' driven? This could be a case of what is counted as electric miles. Though he's only used 139 gallons of gas.
If you look at the graph on the link, he started in December 2011. That's a bit over 4.5 years, or 60 miles a day. Charge at home, charge at work, done!
I understand the total, it is the 313 in one day that I question. You can easily go almost 100% electric, especially in gen 2. My wife went 46mi on one charge a few days ago. But the math doesn't work for the 313 mi day.
I did 62 EV miles hypermiling my gen 1volt but that guy has done 80! IIRC, he's even done over 100 now on his new gen2. FWIW
That makes more sense! We haven't had the opportunity to fully run a battery and Atlanta is not the place to hypermile anyway. Back home in FL would be good because our Prius always got at or above rated MPG there but we could never achieve anywhere near that here.
