He lives 30 minutes south on a highway (not an interstate), whose average speed limit is 65mph. Goind a bit below the speed limit, I averaged almost 60mpg on the trip! I love my Prius c!!
A month into owning a 2012 v five, with 115,000 miles, when I zero the MPG computer and drive across the expressway for 15 miles or so the computer reads about 58MPG at 65MPH, flat-to-rolling topography. How accurate is the computed MPG?
I find that the fuel consumption displayed on the screen is about 5% optimistic compared to what I compute from the gas I pump into the tank. That's averaged over a few dozen tankfuls. In other words, when the display shows 4 litres/100km, the car is actually consuming something like 4.2 litres/100km.
I had the same mileage on a road trip I took from SoCal to Vegas and back recently. It was very pleasing.
