Here's what I'm removing from the doors. Literal JUNK.....paper and almost NO magnet in these garbage speakers.
LOL...you misspelled "garbage" *sigh*...Toyota does NOT get sound. This is why I bought a two.....upgrades are MUCH CHEAPER.
It's not the paper that makes the speaker bad. Lots of great sounding speakers have been made with paper, especially home audiophile gear...high end stuff might I add. It's the awfully tiny voice coil and magnet that makes it terrible, and yes, I was mad at how bad those are. I just ordered my speakers yesterday so I'm waiting for them to come in. 2 years ago I replaced the stock speakers in my BMW, and honestly they were pretty good speakers that the factory uses. Totally out those cones you tore out to shame. If my Prius had speakers like stock bmw, I might have just lived with it. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Paper may sound good, but it's not good car speaker material IMO. We put anything in a car through many extremes, hot, cold, humid, wet....paper just doesn't hold up in a car. Maybe at home in 70 degree temperature/humidity control, but not in a car.
Everything is hooked up and I have to say.....WOW. What a HUGE improvement!! I put a bunch of FLAC files on a USB and you can hear things sooooo much clearer. Highly recommend these speakers and sub.
I've listened to both, and the Infinity's + sub sound better. Not a "ton" better, but better. And a lot cheaper.
