I have a 2006 Prius (Executive), with leather. In the back seat, the arm rest is leaning forward, and it actually rests on the back seat. If I look in the manual, there is a picture showing the arm rest, but it is not leaning in that picture!!! So, I guess there is something wrong with the arm rest, and my colleague who also got his Prius at the same time, als has this leaning arm rest. The arm rest can simply not be used as an arm rest. Can anyone tell me if there is a Prius with an arm rest in the back seat, that is not leaning? If everyone has the same type of "faulty" arm rest, have you reported it to Toyota? If so, what was the response? Thanks in advance for your answer! Regards The Swedish Prius Owner PS It was really fun to see so many Prius in California when I was there in April. We are all on the right track!
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Swedish Prius Owner @ May 29 2006, 11:26 AM) </div> I have a 2006 with cloth interior and the rear arm rest does not lean forward as you describe. Sounds like a defect to me.
I own a '06 Prius with a fabric interior. The back armrest does indeed rest forward on the back seat itself. I also thought that this was a defect. However, I then noticed other Toyotas with the same angled back armrest. My parents' Camry has the exact same forward angle to the armrest when it is down.
Everyone's Talking About The Center Armrest, Right? My 06 side armrests appear "normal", but my center armrest always looked like there's a stop or something missing and that armrest just falls onto the seat in error. My fix is I don't use it!
My '06 Leather also falls to the seat. It only impacts my daughter though. One of the few "complaints" I have about the car.
well, the only Toyota that I know of that actually stops horizontally and not touch the seat bottom is the new Yaris sedan.
My back seat center armrest also droops downward and touches the seat in my 2006 with leather. The first time I saw it I thought that was pretty funky. Haven't heard any complaints from the passengers though. I'm glad I'm usually up front driving - way more fun! Did I say I love this car?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Xman @ May 29 2006, 07:11 PM) </div> Hi Xman, It looks like you are the only one that do not have this "defect" in your Prius. Are you sure, that the arm rest does not touch the seat? If so, could you give us/me more details about your car, like a chassi number and model number. Everyone that have this "faulty" arm rest, and think that it should to be fixed, contact Toyota! Perhaps we together can convince Toyota about doing something. I know that also Toyota dealers in Sweden have contacted Toyota about this issue. The more people who address the issue... /Swedish Prius Owner
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Swedish Prius Owner @ May 30 2006, 12:18 PM) </div> Swedish Prius Owner, While there have been one or two mentions of the drooping rear armrest in posts here, no one has loudly complained about it. Speaking only for myself, I said to myself, "That's a little cheesy for a $26,000 car that's otherwise so advanced", but I just shrugged and accepted it. I suspect others feel the same. I don't think there is a "fix" for it, as it's a design problem. To prevent it, Toyota would need to add a small (but strong) metal or plastic "stop" (protrusion of some kind) to the rod upon which the armrest pivots---and also a piece in the armrest itself, to rest on the stop. Probably, too, a lot of us never use it, or rarely.
Just checked mine and when I put it down it does not hit the seat but if you put you arm on it it will. Its not big deal for me because i'll never sit back there. Thats the first time in about 6 months i've been back there. The back seat is pretty nice but the driver seat is better.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Rick Auricchio @ May 29 2006, 02:04 PM) </div> Mine too, I just thought the japanese where short and this was so they could sit comfortabely.
What armrest ???? Back seat ???? Oh the place where the dog rides. I will have him check next time we go for a ride. No mine does not droop yet B)
