Getting ready to start the conditioning process after I replace my blown battery module. I have seen on here all the different chargers that people have used and had a question. I get confused about the setups of using a car battery and a trickle charger to power their chargers so I am wonder if this is a good solution: -Dynam Supermate DC6 Double Power Universal Balance Charger 1-15 NiCd/NiMH 2-6 Cell Lipo -Dynam Supermate DC6 Double Power Universal Balance Charger 1-15 NiCd/NiMH 2-6 Cell Lipo 1. Seems to have a power adapter that plugs into the wall. Is this a good alternative? 2. I see it charges up to 15 cells; with one module being 6 cells, can I link 2 modules together for total of 12 cells? Forgive my lack of knowledge - doing my best to understand and learn here. Trying to find an easy and cost effective way to configure my modules for reconditioning.
If the charger has an a/c adapter, that's fine. It's easier than tending to a trickle charger. However keep in mind that if power outages are possible, like on a stormy day, you'll want to have it plugged into a power supply with a battery so you don't lose power to the unit.
If you really want to save a lot of time, you can buy the grid charger and reconditioning package from Hybrid Automotive ( Prolong Battery Systems. Extending the life of your hybrid. – Hybrid Automotive ). You can reconditoin the whole pack at one time. Well worth the money if you are going to own a Prius.
Wow that is something to consider. I bought two of those charges for $100 and it is going to take me over 2 weeks to condition them. For $400 I can do it in like 2 days. That is a really good suggestion. I am just getting my feet wet with Prii but this seems like a good cost/time ratio.
It will take about a week to do everything, if you run clean all connections, run 3 cycles, load test, and replace the failed modules. B ut it beats the heck out of 3 weeks! Plus the charge cord stays in the car connected to the battery so all you have to do is plug the charger up to run a balance charge every so often to keep it balanced.
