Buy a Prime 4 seater or 5 seater - poll?

    I'm going on a limb and saying the overall stats will change slightly. Also I'm thinking mpg mode has to improve on both versus Toyota's under cut figures. I think they are conservative.

    There should be an auto mode regarding charging the prime battery in hv mode and getting the energy from the gas engine. I bet you an algorithm could make the prime 55mpg+ in hv mode...

    What about a Prime model of v becoming the Prius to offer a 5th seat?

    After all, the wagon offers more cargo room.

    Even though I may not use the 5th seat, I voted for it because it would be nice to have the option to seat 5.

    I just recently put my rear seat back, back up after over 6 months of having it down, So the number of rear seats seems not to bother me. I did not vote.

    And as for the prius v, I liked it but could not justify it over my regular lift back by taking a 5 to 10 mpg hit. Now if the prius alpha 7 seater was out it would've been a different story.

    The seating problem also happens with minivans, do you want a 7 seater or 8 seater?

    I also think of the idea of Chevy saying we have 120 mpge 50 mpg and 70 mile range volt now to go 500 miles distance!

    Would you still call it a volt if Chevy made it a 3 seater? Ie a small bench in the back..

    v will lose popularity to the Rav4 until gas prices shoot back up. Both SO and I are due for new cars and one will probably be larger for those Costco/Sam's/BJ's/Lowes/HD runs and the other a Prius (or equivalent). I prefer the HB as it's a good compromise between cargo space and efficency. That said, a 45+ mpg v Prime would be tempting!

    I could get by with just a two-seater and more cargo space would definitely be a plus for trips to the grocery store.

    I'll take the 3rd option: Have your cake and eat it to. There's something physical in that center spot right now. It's not just an empty hole. Filling that spot with soft cushions, seatbelt and reshaping the existing plastic and metal into a seat frame shouldn't add too much weight.

    This is a very specific poll lol. We're assuming it's only a loss of 1mpg and 1 mile AER. With those numbers, I would take 5 seats because I almost always travel in the city (unless I'm on a trip) and carrying more people home after dinner or a party is preferable.

    However, the 4-seat version would be better for long distance travel. The rear console storage box can be used to keep small items at hand (like gloves, tissue, snacks in small boxes or tupperware, phone chargers etc).

    Heated seats are nice, but given a choice, I'd rather have cooled seats instead if not both.

    I'll be getting the 4-seater Prime and the rear console will quickly be replaced with a latte machine. Wait a year for pictures of that.

    Why wouldn't you sacrifice 1 MPG for another seat? I don't even use the seat, but it's nicer to have it, especially if you could put down the back seat 60/40. I'd even sacrifice 3 MPG. I'm still getting great mileage.
