Because my Prii can't do this...

If you've never wheeled in a Taco or a Runner, I can see why you would underestimate them. As a stock production vehicle, there is virtually nothing out there more capable.

Judging by the wheel speed in that photo neither can that 4Runner. :D:D:D Where did you find a cold wet place in Arizona to do that at btw?

I do agree though, if you want offroad capability a Toyota Taco/Runner would probably be my 3rd or 4th choice

In Colorado our rocks are dry. 11921847_10204839011035274_903742337251582598_o.jpg

The pic l posted wasn't me (although I've been in similar situations in my Taco), it was just to show Toyota knows what they're doing. However, Arizona has a bit more to offer than what most people would typically think.

For me, if all I wanted was a crawler or something to romp in on the weekend, I'd get a Jeep for sure. However, a Jeep wouldn't have met two of my other most important criteria:

    1. Reliability (daily driver, had $5k to spend. Depending on a Jeep in that price range for reliability is risky)
    2. I needed a bed (which is also why I didn't consider a Runner)
The Tacoma has done me good so far!

I'm a skier and chasing the snow all winter. So I have a Honda CRV. The Prius is not real good in the snow. Hopefully my new Gen 4 will actually spin the wheels. Also a few motorcycles, and ATV's.

Gen 4 does have a traction control off button, for if you need it to get un-stuck.

The Prius is primarily my wife's car. As you can see from my avatar, I also have a MX-5 Miata, (2008 retractible hardtop). Our work vehicle is a 2013 Toyota Tundra, and my baby, a 1966 Mercury Comet:

I even have a 2003 Harley Low Rider when there's nothing else going on. Retirement's a blast!

Since I need to haul motorbikes and the like, one of my other vehicles is a cargo van. :D
