Gen 4 MPG so much better than Gen 2

Not to say my Gen 2 ever had bad gas millage. It was around 50 MPG. But the gen 4, after 5K miles is sitting at 64MPG. I don't baby this thing. I have an express lane I use in the morning. I find myself running effortlessly at 80. I do 50 miles a day and 160 miles on the weekend. I'm forgetting to put gas for over a week.

 

They are amazing cars. There's a lot of hybrid's now, Prius copies. But for the money does anything come close to a Prius's quality, reliability, mileage and life. I don't think so.

 

My Gen 2, 2006, was babied for a for a year. After that I ran it like any other car. I'm not an aggressive driver. More about smooth starts, stops with as little brakes as possible. I run above the speed limit, to the max the cops will allow. I did 200K on it a did nothing. The 50MPG was calculated in the beginning . But I never reset the on screen calc. that sat right at 50MPG

The 64MPG on the gen 4 is the screen only. That may be a little off, but good enough for me.

 

They just paved about 10 miles of my morning ride on a 3 lane highway, so it's smooth. The car handles reasonable well. One thing I like about the Gen 2 and now the Gen 4 is the tight steering. Nothing loosened up. At 200 K the suspension parts felt like new. And now the rear suspension feels better. There are some horrible, hard riding cars out there. So called sports cars. Have you ever ridden in a mid 80's Corvette?

Tire pressure is what it came with, haven't checked it.
