    NO DO NOT CANCEL....

Notice Toyota is recalling these cars to fix a defect that has caused NO problems to date. They will make the repair and in all probability extend the car's warranty to cover the repaired item. Any of the US big four would have waited until lives were lost and then only after the US Government investigated the issue would they have made a recall.

I had a 4Runner a few yers aog with a faulty head gasket....dicovered after the warranty had expired. Toyota replaced it at NO cost to me. Then about a year later They sent me a letter that it shuold be replaced again since the original replacement parts also Might have been faulty. They replaced it again at no cost then extended the warranty on the entire drive train up to 100,000 miles of 7 years.

This is how you treat customers and keep them loyal to your brand. The big four and others have forgotten that it is sometimes how a customer is treated AFTER the sale that determines how well they like their car.

I am sure my new 2006 Prius will give me years of trouble free driving.

Damn, got to sell one of the kids in order to take the old hog to the WalMart. Ford still has more recalls than Toyota does. Have fun troll!

Yes. You should cancel your order and buy an Expedition. It's the safest vehicle money can buy. It would never, ever, ever spontaneously catch fire while parked. With the key off.

I had my Sport Trac for less than 2 years and had 4 recalls on it. It needed its' brakes done already at 25000 and the tires were already balding and had to be replaced.

Poor Ford and GM, squirming all over the place trying to get out from under the tires of Prius, FJ Cruiser et al. Don't you think they would concentrate their efforts elsewhere (ie; making better vehicles) when despite negative press the Prius is still going strong??? Word of mouth is overpowering Detroit and Big Oil.

hahaha! Gotta love the trolls... they're so dumb.

EDIT: after reading more about these engine compartment fires, I realize I should not be so glib... these stories are really sad. What's so alarming is that Ford doesn't seem to want to address the problem... they just drag their feet and ignore the fact that these switches are also in models that haven't been recalled.

No. The recall does not appear to include any cars made since mid-November.

After reading all the posts on this subject I would conclude:

    1) Do not cancel!
    2) Never buy a Ford

Thanks Expedition, for prompting others to enlighten me on just how bad a company Ford really is, and reminding me why I'm so glad I onwn a Prius!

I got sucked into that kind of thinking for far too long. I'm all the poorer for the high maintanence costs and low resale values.

I'll buy an American brand and made car just as soon as it comes up with something as wonderful as I'm now driving.

I won't be holding my breath while I wait. [IMG]

By the way, I am supporting the American economy by reducing our dependence on IMPORTED oil. The cost of the oil we import to move that beast Expedition around will probably exceed the cost of the Expedition over its life.

This is pointless. He likes his expedition, we like our prius', and we both feel good about our decisions.

Hey - stop that crazy talk! If everyone adopted that attitude, I wouldn't get any enjoyment out of reading these posts! :)
