I think StarCaller might be right. It's probably a precursor to a plug-in module that will operate with IOS and Android. The ScanGauge technology is getting a little long in the tooth. In any event the $106 price is killer.
I have an Ultragauge in my Honda. I feel it's better than a smart phone solution. It's plugged in and on anytime the car is on and requires no fiddling with an app. I use it primarily because my car doesn't have a temp gauge and I hate not knowing the temp, but you can get any number of gauge readings from it and customize the views as well.
