Yes. It is very handy. Seems like it "shows up" when I need it and doesn't obscur my view when I don't focus on it. Glad I got it!

I personally love it on my Gen3 and the one on the Gen4 is even better. It keeps the eyes where they should be, on the road! :)

I definitely don't crave for the prime. There are two reasons:
    1. The lesser consumption is traded off against more electric energy which you have to pay with your electricity bill. If you compare the costs you see, that this is no bargain. On the contrary.
    2. The battery is a lot heavier. And it is lithium, while the prius IV still offers nickel/metal/hydrid. The latter are famous for their legendary longevity.

The price of gas will not always be cheap. And the lack of value placed on reducing our oil dependency is disappointing. Some value should be placed on reducing emissions as well.

Most of the Prius liftback models now use lithium. Many of the other automaker hybrids also use lithium. And don't forget, a majority of handheld devices use lithium too. They don't prevent deep discharges like Prius either.

The Prime only gets 22 miles in EV mode? For me, that's not enough to justify the higher price of the car. Nor is the hassle of having to "plug in" a car every day. I would have to hire an electrician to install an expensive plug on the outside of the house? No thank you. (maybe if it got 500 miles in EV, I would consider it.)

And the Prime is only a 4-seater? No problems there. When is the last time, honestly, you saw 5 people stuffed inside a Prius??? I can't imagine squeezing back there with two other adults! And who's the poor sap that gets stuck in the middle??? :ROFLMAO: I can barely fit back there by myself. Even 3 kids would be cramped!

In my humble opinion, I think ALL Prius models should only have 4 seats. Any more than that, and I believe it's just too dangerous for the rear passengers.

Johann are you living in the USA or Austria?
I would tend to agree for USA but for EU with its high gaso taxes, one would think Prime fits the demand better.

What's your parking situation? No garage? No 120-volt outlet?

That's another thing, the Prime's small battery means you can easily get a full charge overnight on 120 volts. (That's not a benefit - it comes at the cost of reduced all-electric range, and you could charge a Volt or even a straight BEV on L1 charging if you were fine with that daily range on electricity - but it means that L2 charging a Prime isn't that important.)

It's kind of a dumb way of looking at things, but can be a "cup half empty" kind of guy.

With the way I use my car, I would only take advantage of the externally produced electricity for 20% or fewer of my total miles.

While that is most definitely better than 0% to any logical way of thinking, the daily reminder of the car's electric range limitations would grate on me.

    So no regrets.

I like the look of the Prime and would love a plug in but we live on the top floor of a 3 story apartment building. Unfortunately the staircase isn't wide enough to get it up the stairs so we could plug it in.

I really love my 2016 Prius Eco two. Not thinking next yr . Just living life and having fun with my son. For 22 miles is it not really needed. Have fun everyone.

It depends on your market - here in Australia we are paying considerably more for electricity from the grid than in USA (I think 3 or 4 times as much). Mind you, our fuel prices are more too ($1.25/litre at the moment, though it was $1.60 a few years back).

That said, I've got 1.5kw of solar panels on my roof (and no oil well) which changes the argument considerably.

The 4 seat capacity of the Prime would be a deal breaker for me. I don't often have 4 passengers plus me driving (5 total), but when needed, well, it's needed and I'd rather have the capacity then not. I think this is a big mistake on the part of Toyota and will likely be rectified in subsequent updates to the Prime.

I think this is what is overlooked when you read articles about BEVs and PHEVs taking over regular hybrids. The authors tend to forget that not everyone lives in a single detached house with access to a power outlet (or the ability to install a home EVSE). There are plenty of places around the world where it isn't yet practical to plug a car in.

To be a mistake, a goal would not be met. Are you implying sales should (not could) be much higher than initial targets?

In other words, consider the plans for years #2 and #3. The first year won't resemble them anyway.

April was so long ago, I had to make a decision and went another way. Regardless, it looks like we're seeing a burst of new products which is a good thing. But like many Mac owners of decades past, you pays your money and takes your chances.
