Cargo Mat vs. Cargo liner

I have the Weathertec cargo tray with the lip that goes all around it. I absolutely love it. But it only covers the area behind the rear seats. I'm not sure what it's made of, but it has a surpringly soft feel to it. Also looks great. My dogs love it too. They prefer to lay in the cargo tray than to lay on the carpeted back of my rear seats when they are folded down.

It came rolled up in a long thin box. I haven't tried rolling it up, but I'm sure it would roll up quite easily. It does not have a stiff feeling to it at all. The only problem with rolling it up is that the corners then sort of stick up for a few days afterwards. I much prefer the material used to make this cargo tray than the material used for the cargo tray in my Mazda Tribute that I traded in on my Prius. That material was a harder, plastic like material, similar to what kiddie pools are made of. I never tried to roll it up, but I suspect it would not have been easy.

Mine was delivered rolled up, in the middle of winter and stored in a shed for 2 weeks outside. It unrolled flat and installed fine. A very flexible material, and the form fitting lips gives a sense of comfort when transporting groceries, should you not have noticed the milk was leaking.

By it's design, it does not cover the area when the back seat is down, but the lip is very pliable and will bounce back when the long object is removed.

 

Where did you get your Weathertech mat? I have seen them as low as $61, but it says generic fit, or $109 which claims to be a custom fit. I'd prefer custom fit so I don't lose usable cargo space, but I don't want to pay $40 extra for the same product.

I bot mine from www.autoanything.com. Excellent service. Ordered it on a Monday night and received it on Thursday. I paid the $109. I probably should have spent more time price comparing, but I didn't. I also wanted the custom fit. The site says its for a 2005 Prius, but it fit my 2006 perfectly. I do think it's over priced, but it is also a great product. I love the feel and look of it. If I was to give my cargo tray a name, I'd call her Jessica Biehl, <g>.

Yes, but so does the carpeted cargo mat that came with the car. The Weathertec cargo liner is much lighter, tho, almost like lifting a feather. Also, I rarely open that trunk area, so it doesn't make much difference to me.

I'm still waiting on my 06 Magnetic Gray Prius to arrive, but I will definitely order the Weathertech cargo liner for it. I currently have an Audi A4 wagon (love it, but horrible MPG) and have had a Weathertech liner for 3 years. It has held up amazingly well, the dogs love it and you can just hose the thing off to clean. It is expensive, but worth every penny for the custom fit and durability. I ordered my directly from weathertech.com. It shipped fast, they got the order correct, no problems.

I have had a WeatherTech cargo liner in my Ford Focus ZTW wagon for a year now -- ever since our two young yellow labs got bored on a 5-hour drive and partially destroyed the carpeting in the cargo area. <_<

Now my wife has a 2006 Prius, but the cargo area is too small for the two labs. What I'd like to do is get a "cargo" liner that will cover the entire back area of the car when the back seats are folded down. WeatherTech has no such animal, sad to say. Has anyone seen anything like that? I can just use a blanket, but I'm spoiled by the WeatherTech in the other car -- it is perfect for dog owners.
