Well, my poor beloved gen1 was totaled in an accident. Just under 200k miles and ran perfect. Has gen 3 modules in it 2yrs old. I did the battery myself, there's a writeup on here somewhere. The insurance company is allowing me to remove the hv batt with no decline in cost to the value. So here is my dilemma. I am stuck between a gen 1 with 134k fir 1900 and a gen 2 with 116k for 2k and needs a hv batt. Codes are for the gen2 Scan code P0A80 and p3019 hybrid battery c1241 low battery voltage c1310 hb system malfunction would recommend hybrid battery auxillary battery
So which is the better deal? Both have new brakes and tires and drive. The gen 1 a/c shuts off and blinks. But no lights. Any help is appreciated
    Gen 1 is a 2002 gen 2 is a 2005

    Thank you,
    Scott

i just don't see how a gen 1 could be a better deal than a 2, but you had great luck with yours, so who knows?
sorry about your accident, and all the best with your decision.(y)

If I were in your position, I would buy the G2, use 28 modules from your Classic battery to renew the G2 traction battery, then sell the other 10 modules on eBay.

So my question would be the red triangle light is on the check engine light is on there is a yellow round exclamation point! With parentheses there's also a VSC light that is on is that all normal lights to be on while this Prius is having a battery failure on the Gen 2?I guess the last thingW would be that I have a ScanGauge 2 from my classic that I can bring over to the Gen 2 my question with that would be what can I monitor battery wise on the Gen 2? Can I monitor each block voltage between high and low to see what's going on with the battery or do I not have that capability on the Gen 2

Since the hybrid drivetrain is impaired, the skid control ECU will not like it, and will light up the ABS, VSC, ((!)), and BRAKE lights. Of course, that could also indicate the car has another problem with the braking system.

The check engine light indicates the presence of another problem relating to the engine or the emissions control system.

The master warning red triangle light just shows that there is a problem somewhere.

I don't know about ScanGauge. I would strongly suggest you get Mini VCI so that you can retrieve all DTC logged by any Toyota, then you won't have to guess about what problems a particular vehicle may or may not have.

Soo about an hour from me I find a 05 prius with 110k on it for 4000. What I would like to know is why so cheap? It books for almost 6k. What should I look for when I go test drive this car tomorrow afternoon, he also said it is a clean title.
    Thank you,
    Scott

what's the blue book private sale number? hard to believe anyone would be innocent enough to start well below that.
why so cheap? yes, that's the question, isn't it. battery, engine, tranny, a/c, if it's running fine with no dash lights, mpg's are fine on a 20 + mile drive and you can power it up and down a few times without issue, and it's not burning a lot of oil? no idea.

I bought my 05 with 212000 for $2500, clean title. However the interior was in rough condition and it smelled like farm animals. A few trips to the junk yard and it now looks fantastic or at least pretty presentable. I am still looking for a new drivers seat because mine has a tear in it. Leather is hard to come by that matches my other seats. I picked an entirely new interior but the total came to $250 and since I really only needed a drivers seat I let it stay at the junk yard. Anyway for what I paid I feel like I got a good deal because the battery had just been rebuilt by a hybrid shop in Asheville, NC. I asked the guy after I paid what he had paid and he said $500.
