Good choice. You know I do not remember a jack either. Will look in the morning. Yes to all your questions but I like the drive of the Touring so much I bit like you. Thought about a cheap spare in the trunk but changed my mind. There is a thread about modifying the under mat area for a spare. The rumor is the battery has eaten the space. Have not figured out how to make the weather in a smaller more accurate area.
Congratulations The EV mode shows up on the Hybrid System Indicator (one of the options to display) (marked as "5" in the diagram below - lights up in GREEN on the dash display): Alternatively, you can see it graphically displayed in the Energy Monitor screen. Additionally, the EV Driving Ratio will show in the summary:
I was overwhelmed at first, too; but, spend some time in Park going through all the menus, and you'll get more comfortable. Use the Left/Right buttons to select the Info (i) displays, then use the Up/Down buttons to cycle through the various displays. The one I settled on is like the old HSI (hybrid status indicator?) that had a moving bar and four zones (charge, ev/eco, eco, pwr). In this new car, it is a curve, but shows the same regions. In the EV portion of the Eco zone, there is an outline of the car(?) that fills in with color and EV when running in EV mode.
KEDavis, You definitely should have gotten a jack with the 4 Touring. I was just screwing around and took out one of the foam sections in back and crammed a whole lot of crap in the voids. Nowhere near as much room down there as on our 2010 and far less elegant, but it worked.
In Canada the "Touring" level comes 17" wheels and a temp spare. There is Touring with extra tech package that does delete the spare, the only Can level without spare. Was it @alanclarkeau that mentioned his Australian 2016 came with full size spare? Lots of variations around the globe.
Driving to the dealer today I saw the EV indicator and found my jack. Whether I need it is another question. The only issue that even the dealer couldn't answer is "current weather" shows the wrong city.
Hi - no, not Australia - base get's pretend spare, top model gets a thingy of GOO. I think it might have been Israel?
Believe my entune does it through my iPhone. Maybe your phone map needs adjusting. Yep, need to spend some more time in park. Leave mine on the rose compass.
So the only issue still is the weather. On my iPhone the Weather Channel app says "current weather: San Diego." Last night at the supermarket after two days of driving the car's weather app finally said San Diego. Then when I drove home it went back to National City. I never got any closer to National City on my drive home. The dealer couldn't answer and neither could Toyota. They were supposed to call me back yesterday or today (it's already 1:34 pm Pacific Time). Based on other posts here I checked out Toyota Safety Connect (the SOS button). The dealer was supposed to set it up. Nope. I set it up myself and extended for two more years for $266. The dealer also told me my Toyota Roadside Assistance was only valid for one year. Two different people said this. Wrong. It's two years, but with Safety Connect renewal it's now three years. I'll save my AAA for discounts and when I'm driving a rental car, or when Toyota can't get to me.
Had to set up both SOS myself. Did you get the FOB tags for safety connect? I only got them for one car. Also we did not extend SOS this time as they towed our Prius to a dealer who could not do body work. The dealer that could was another 10 miles away if it was towed from the accident scene. Total waste for me as they towed it to a poor shop near by to get fixed. Boy I was hot! If you are in an accident make sure they tow it to a dealer that cares. When it arrived at the dealer they said what do you want us to do with this? On the weather I am still checking this out. Ours is correct by a very large area.
The only key tags were the radio reset code, and two cardboard inventory tags with a few numbers on them. Do I need the key fob tag or a window sticker? I have enough to do without chasing down something else.
It just has the phone number and you vin number to call if you are not in the car. Like someone stole it. you could just put it on a piece of paper in your wallet.
If it's just phone number and VIN, I have that in my phone. My VIN is also on my insurance card in my wallet. I don't really want my VIN to be on my key chain; it would make it easier for a thief to find and steal my car. If they have the key fob though they could just see which one beeps when they push the unlock button.
Ahhh - I've just spent the last 2 weeks searching for one of these - I didn't think of heading THAT far north!! Was it eBay?
Let me look for the link but first lets make sure it works. Saw a youtube video where you can make one of these like MacGyver. Took 10 weeks to get here.
OK, it sort of works. It puts out current but not enough to charge the phone or the contacts are defective. So $2.18 is not an option at this point in time.
