I found an app called carista which claims you can access your on board computer and change settings. such as making the windows all go down, the blinker setting and making the reverse alert beep only once if you buy or borrow an OBD2. anybody have any experience with this? I stopped at advanced auto parts and they said my car didn't show any codes. amazon sells the OBD2 from $10-$100. I'm sure the dealer can do it, but wonder if they will alter the reverse alert or consider it a safety feature that shouldn't be changed. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I asked my dealer to do the first and last of your points before taking delivery - the salesman organised it. I'd contact him/her ASAP and ask him to get it done FREE.
Carista device and a smartphone app will allow you to change many factory settings to your preference.
How does the functionality of Carista compare to Techstream? Can Carista access the various controllers and hidden options as well as Techstream? I'd rather spend less money, but don't want to find out there are things I can do with Techstream but not Carista. Having come from a VW altered with VCDS I'm looking for similar abilities.
The Carista is a good item, but a little pricey at $40. Add to that the mandatory "in app purchase" of $20 to activate the ability to make changes to the vehicle settings, and for something that the dealer should do for free, its damn expensive. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Update: dealer was a total fail on my end. I sat there for 3 hours only to get in the car and find it beeping in reverse. The windows went down but I'm not sure if I just didn't hold the remote button down long enough. I was pissed. Ordered carista from Amazon received the next day and in 5 minutes everything was the way I wanted it. Carista was $39.99 and $10 to use the app for a week. well worth it to not have beeping for the next 20 years. Disappointed that the dealer has already proven that they are ignorant. is there any other obd except carista to modify the settings of the car ? as i'm wondering if carista is not avaliable which obd2 i should get, i'd been searching for one hour now many obd offers , and not sure if they will work fine or not , any suggestion ? , i need OBD that can modify settings through USB cable. Note : i will request the OBD from china .
