Hey how about one of you fellow modders paint your 2015 style prius II wheel covers matte black then post some pix so I can decide if its worth the time? My covers have been off for awhile but the wheels still look unfinished without them. I have black oem center caps and black lug nut caps and plastidipped all the badges and emblems plus added carbon fiber background behind the emblems. Plastidip is matte black so it would match the matte black wheel covers. Oh and i have a winter gray with dark tint. Any thoughts?
lol. Yea but that's like 4-5 hours of work. Plus I'm sure little rocks will chip the plastidip or paint off in no time. I was just surprised I couldn't find one picture online of someone who had already done it. Photoshop just isn't the same. Oh well.
4-5 hours? Sure, if going to the bar afterward counts as "work." I Plasti-dipped my solid wheel covers nearly two years ago; go ahead, they won't chip off.
hmmmm. Do you have any pix? Yea I know it's not really work but it does take some time. Do you think it looks better with the plastidipped covers instead of just taking them off to show the black alloy wheels?
Well...I did mine to improve the drag coefficient. They're pizza pans, plasti-dipped and bolted to the stock wheel covers. I had to put something on them to prevent the rusting, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered. But the plasti-dip has been very durable.
Sorry. 1. It's not my car. 2. NAVY. Stands for....Never Again Volunteer Yourself... Why not use PlastiDip?
Look what I did. I will probably have to fix one but I want to be sure I like it first before spending the time. I like it so far.
I don't think anyone gives a flip but here are the final pix. All the chrome and silver wheel covers have been plastidipped. It's not as nice as it would be with some aftermarket wheels but I like it.
I tried applying the glossifier in my first attempt but it came out uneven and had a lighter color. I lost my mind fixing all the little imperfections. I think I went thru 10 cans of plastidip which is nutty. At this point I'm sick of dipping so hopefully it holds up.
