Thx! Blizard Pearl with black interior. We got the 3 Touring package. Really bummed it doesn't have the garage door opener...seems like that should be standard?! Still adjusting to having rear camera, and the annoying beep..some serious sensory overload when backing up!

Curious to see how the mileage will average out after we get used to driving. We are on the central coast of CA, so average temps all year, and varying hills on our ~30mi round-trip commute. Based on prior comments the better-than-promised mpg seems normal (and impressive!).

There's a really good guide in the fuel economy section called "Dashboard setup for economical driving". for some reason I can't post a link to it so you'll have to go there and find it. I set my car up that way before I left the dealer when I picked it up last weekend.

Your salesman can turn off the beep - or at least the service department. I had mine turned off before I took delivery (and had them activate global window open/close too).

As I learned the hard way, get the dealer to include whatever customizable features you want changed. They start on p 753 of the big manual. I was lucky enough to find out yesterday that I could change the reverse indicator to a single beep with my Scanguage. The rest of it I either have to buy a Techstream on EBay or possibly Carista

Holy cow I have been getting 78mpg with city driving when there's no traffic. This is dark magic.

Agreed. And those are awesome numbers!

And thanks for the tips on the display. I stumbled across that post and managed to adjust the settings. Definitely helpful.

Who knew improving mpg could be so exciting?! I might have a slight addiction...

We all know the new 2016 Prius has great fuel economy. But what is the worst gas mileage anybody has gotten in their Gen4? (Full tank report, only. And hand calculated.)

My worst full tank report was 59.2 MPG. Mostly city driving. (I re-fuel when the gas gauge gets down to the last bar.)

I'm currently doing an experiment, to purposely see how bad the gas mileage can get. I'm not doing anything extreme, or abusing the car in any way... I'm just using the Power mode more often, increasing my speed somewhat, not doing any hyper-milng whatsoever, and not using or paying attention to any "Eco" indicators. I'm just driving my Prius like a regular car, similar to all the other nuts on the road.

(I bet it doesn't go below 50 MPG after a full tank used.)

The worst tank I have gotten so far was calculated at 56.7 MPG (60.1 on the MFD screen). That was on a long road trip in a packed car on the fast, fast California insterstate. Not bad for the worst! And I still got 580 miles on the tank.

    Excellent, Kevin.

Speed, hills, weather, load weight, number of passengers, city, interstate, etc. Considering all the various driving conditions and scenarios, I'm guessing the Gen4 Prius could still achieve a minimum of 50 MPG from a full tank. It's pretty amazing.

On my commute this morning, I drove it as best I could like a normal car (ie foot on the accelerator) and still got 55.0 (per computer). My commute is pretty hilly and there was someone on my tail, so no taking it easy this morning. I left it in Normal Mode and the indicator was in the PWR range quite a bit, so 55mpg is still quite amazing to me.

My MIL has a 2014 Prius v and "only" averages 39.3. We were more interested in the mpg than the minimal extra cargo space so that's why we went with the regular LB. So far, glad we did.

Is the general theory that the EPA estimates are just really low? or Incorrect? I'm not sure how many miles some of you have on the cars. Are you noticing any decline as time goes on?

The EPA estimates are low, and I am getting better mileage as the car gets boken in.

I've only had my Prius for 4 months. 3,300 miles. If I continue to average 60 mpg for the next 10 years, I will be speechless! :ROFLMAO: Heck, I would be perfectly happy with a steady 50. Or even 45! What a world of difference, from when I was only getting 17 in my Camry.

Totally agree. The Prius is replacing a Focus that was averaging 30mpg. We really need to replace our Pilot that gets 18mpg, but mileage in SUVs is just terrible. Even the Highlander Hybrid "only" gets ~28. Pretty disappointing. And unfortunately I don't have an extra $100k laying around to buy the Tesla SUV!

It's kind of baffling that hybrid/alternative fuel isn't mandatory or at least more popular. I'm sure it will get there some day, but it's ridiculous that we unnecessarily waste resources (gas) when the technology is available. And I'm feeling slightly guilty we didn't personally switch sooner!!

I'm speechless with the MPG on these cars. So far I have commuted 3 times to work (moderate traffic on the freeway in the SF Bay Area) 57 miles one way and numbers according to the computer are 66.9, 67.4 and 71.4. The best I have done in my old G2 Prius commute is 62 and recently couldn't top 55 due to age and degraded battery.

Hi folks, new Prius owner (2016 Four) here. First Prius, heck first Toyota. I am coming from a 2011 VW Sportwagen TDI that used to get me around 45 MPG based on fuelly to track fillups. I've only had one fill up so far in the Prius and am averaging 58.6 so far, not trying to be particularly careful in my driving style. I have had a couple days over 70 on the daily commute. Amazed by the mileage, even more amazed by the way this thing is put together (quality, workmanship, interior materials). Seems like my mileage has been getting a little better as time goes by although tough to tell. Very impressed!

I usually don't even look at the "From the Flag" numbers. (It's such a small sample.) However, it's nice to see some mpg that are higher than my constant, boring average of 60.

113 miles driven this morning / PWR mode 100%
    50% Coast Cruisin / 50% freeway at 70 mph
AC on the whole time / 68 degrees

    73 mpg. Good enough. ;)

Yeah, I was pretty surprised. I'm a 60's guy! The car does just fine in the PWR mode. It will "Pulse up" quickly to the speed limit (or whatever) then I back off a bit and the EV light comes on. But after this tank is empty, I'll probably go back to "Normal" mode. Experiment over.
