Just bought a brand new 2015 Prius Two, not II. I like the car overall. One major disappointment is the poor FM reception on the stock non JBL system. Swapped out the front door speakers with Infinity 9633 speakers that improved the sound significantly. I've been reading about lots of owners of prius 2010-2012 having similar poor FM reception. Not many other threads on the later model years. Here are some questions. Are people still having the same weak FM reception? Has anyone been able to find a solution? Is there a TBS out for this problem?
No problems with mine. Same a the Honda and other vehicles I've had before the Prius. Maybe a loose antenna connection?
I also have a 2015 Prius Two, and the reception actually seems better than other cars I've driven on my long commute and I am able to pickup stations further away than before.
That's my guess, too. If you haven't done so already, it's not too difficult to take apart all of the plastic to get to the HU. But I'm sure there's a You Tube video on how to do it. Basically start at the cup holder and work your way up. And while you are there, make sure all of the connectors are together. Mike
Just got a '14 prius two. The fm reception is definitely borked. Light static for most stations that all are fine in other vehicles. The big thread on the 2010 prius fm issue ends up closing in on an antenna grounding issue with the barrel plug and connector. I'm gonna try to mess with that and see what I get. Bending the tabs would be good, but I'm gonna try to improve the ground contact with some aluminum foil.
