Please provide link to the "I read somewhere...."
Also provide link for Amazon and can take a look.
And, unless it is a dealer local to you, my guess is you would have shipping charges as well.

Unless you have first hand knowledge, I would suspect the refusal was most likely on the dealership end (parts person freaks when he sees the loud orange color, panics, and takes the safe route of refusal to cover his @ss).

Need an amazon link as I can't find any NEW batts. Also, it's common for websites to not include core charges because that's not a part of typical payment schemes. You'll get a call or email from the actual shipper later on wanting a CC # for the core charge.

Geesh, I don't think any owner would want a loud orange battery, not sure of Dorman's rationale. Discreet decal yeah, bright-orange case, forget it.

ReInvolt, which Dorman acquired, had a similar tact: the back face (at least) of their battery was a ReInvolt billboard.

I read somewhere translates to: I cannot recall where I read it but I'm pretty sure I did read it.

The new HV battery on Amazon is shown when the Toyota part number is entered in the search field.
It's more than the stealership price (without the core charge). But it does show Toyota as the seller.

The listing is incorrect with regard to the battery size and weight (12V aux battery) so maybe
the HV battery is not actually available.

    Aah, ok. Makes sense.
I have yet to see any dealer that allows one of it's HV packs to be shipped. Too much paperwork and procedures involved. They are pretty picky about who handles and installs them.

    A core I
: 2374502, member: 72054"]Is it true that Toyota will not accept a Dorman remanufactured HV battery when exchanging old for new? I read somewhere that this happened to a Dorman battery owner when they wanted to buy a new Toyota HV battery at a stealership.

By the way, has anyone tried buying a new Gen 2 HV battery from Amazon.com? There is no mention of a core charge on their website even though the seller is Toyota. I added the battery to my cart and still the $1350 core charge was not shown.[/QUOTE]

I believe my battery just failed in My Prius today 07 with 114000 miles on it car barely made it home order the cable will be checking the codes on the car but pretty sure it's the battery so if that's the case I didn't talk to Napa today and yes they carry a three year warranty on a new battery so it seems like a pretty good deal to me.

Just an update after approximately 13k...the battery works great. The only time I have to be careful is when I go to Vegas during the summer. The HV battery will drop below 40 percent on the way back to Los Angeles when climbing the steep hill--especially when the AC is on. I just slowdown and follow the trucks when it happens. Other than that, it's fine on regular roads.

Update: battery died @18k. Went to Napa yesterday evening and ordered a replacement. It came this morning. Had everything replaced/exchange by noon. Car is running fine again. Hope the second time is a charm...lol. The little tank has 376k...going for 500k. Napa's exchange/shipping policy is awesome.
