Source: Key Questions Remaining Just a Few Months Before 2017 Chevy Bolt Launch All that is known about the Bolt EV’s electric range is that it will be north of 200 miles, says Chevrolet. The car with reported coefficient of drag of 0.312 has a 60-kWh battery, and Tesla has said its Model 3’s pack will be smaller while delivering 215 miles range thanks in part to superior aerodynamics estimated around 0.21. My BMW i3-REx has a 0.29, not too far from our former 2003 Prius. This is OK for city but on the highway, pretty rough. But if accurate, '0.312' could be a problem. Bob Wilson
Awe carp! Little old gray haired ladies looking through the steering wheel in the left lane with the turn signal on. Bob Wilson
Um, sort of. The Bolt is built upon the same platform as the Buick Encore and Chevy Trax, which will also be used for the new Sonic. Platform sharing is far removed from the badge-engineering of the days of old, when a model might have just a different grill and tail lights between brands, though. The Trax and Encore are the closest to that, but have more sheet metal differences. The new Sonic, still the same platform, is a shorter car. The Bolt is tall like the Trax in order to have more space for the battery pack, but that pack requires a whole different floor pan than an ICE model would. What GM has done with this platform between the Trax and Bolt is what Toyota should have done between the Prius and Prime.
The key word there is "useful". For some, a motorcycle has as much "useful space" as a Prius. I assume you are comparing "useful" space of a Tesla Model 3? If so, I agree that the Bolt will have more space. Weather it is "useful" or not comes down to each individual buyer.
yes, model 3, and yes, speaking for me personally. that's not to say tesla won't have other attributes, i'm just used to hatch functionality.
The Bolt should be better for hauling your recycling bins. I don't think it will have a front trunk like the Model 3 likely will. So the 3 might be better for carrying luggage and similar.
what they showed looked pretty small, but tough to tell. recycling bins don't even fit in the hycam. every time we need to move something bulky, it's the pip.
LMAO - false!!! My prius has way more "useful space" than any of my bikes. From your above statement, you neither own a Prius nor a motorcycle, hence, you statement lacks any validity. DBCassidy
I agree. Will it camp (can you sleep in it)? It's hard to beat the Prius hatchback for impromptu camping.
