05 no speedometer wont go into gear

    Running out of gas is a big problem.........but that shouldn't explain the meter not working. Did you initially mean it not working because it won't go into "READY" mode? Without it going into READY mode, there won't be any numbers that display on the speedometer.

    Put 4 more gallons in totaling 6 added. Fuel gauge now shows one flashing square. Showed 2 steady before. ?? Talked to 3prongpaul. He suggested that the ice wasn't actually starting it just sounds like it is. Suggested trying some starting fluid to see if it'll keep running. Yes it did keep running so now the problem has migrated to a fuel delivery issue it would seem. Not sure how all the combination meter and harness codes relate to this. Or the abs or vsc codes.

    disconnect the 12v battery and reconnect after 1 minute

    Did the 12v disconnect. Cleaned connections on fuel pump relay, scanned and reset codes and the car operated (yay!) for about a minute. Was able to drive a few hundred feet. Lit up again. Scanned again. Same codes. This time the details show I ran out of fuel at 14mph... So fuel pump or relay failure??? And the fuel gauge still shows one flashing square.

    Ok start another thread, concentrating on the new problem. Odometer fixed yay....but your car is still haunted

    Thanks for the assistance. I sent you the parts you loaned me today. It never did run again but I finally solved the prius issues once and for all.
    I traded it for a 98 firebird. Eff efficiency. Cheers!

    seriously? gone? sorry to hear that. Yeah I'm at a lost on what went wrong on your 05. Maybe the heat killed it!
