there is a clunk on the front of my Prius. When I'm driving slowly and steering I can hear a clunk/knock coming from the front. I can replicate the noise by steering when stationary. I have taken it in for diagnostics and they couldn't see anything wrong. Any suggestions where to look? Thanks John
Do you know if the COT recall was done on your car? You posted in the Gen III Forum, however your avatar specifies 2009 Prius which is a Gen II Prius. Please refer to the attached file for more information.
Not sure what the 1.8 means. It seems that European models differ from US models, so I really can't say. I would take your car to the local Toyota shop and have them check the recall that I mentioned (COT). Try to find out if it applies to your Prius. Best of luck to you!
I do agree that Gen III has the 1.8 litre engine. Maybe you have a mid year unit. 2009 Prius here in the USA is a Gen II unit. 2009 model year was also the last year of the Gen II Prius, hence the confusion.
2009 in the UK is a Gen 3. Remember guys, North America is the only weird place that labels cars one year ahead lol.
Chances are you have a worn tie rod or ball joint. You may need to have the vehicle checked by a suspension repair shop as they deal frequently with these awkward sounds.
