Hi guys! I'm officially a prius owner! I will be picking up my car today and would like to order a Qi charging case for my iPhone 6. I would like to get one from amazon or best buy. Anyone know of any great ones that actually work well?
Congrats! I have bought very recently an iPhone 6 cover from Amazon and it works well. Considering the price I am really pleased. I bought it in the German site of Amazon but I am sure you will find it on amazon.com too: LingsFire® 2 in 1 Qi Wireless
I have been using the Bezalel Lattitude case for about 2 months now. It works well and doesn't increase the thickness much. It is found on Amazon or directly from Bezalel.com I did had trouble with my first case and they quickly
I'm curious, how is the durability of the connector at the bottom? Are you regularly connectioning/disconnecting it when charging to the standard iPhone cable? Does that little nub (connector) bother you at all with the phone in your pocket?
Surprisingly, I do not see that case being sold in America through amazon. But it looks like a great case for the price!
It's on Amazon America: But last Father's Day weekend the Bezalel had it direct: Wireless Charger • iPhone Wireless Charging Case | BEZALEL. It was 20% with checkout code: COOLDAD + it's normally Free shipping direct from them. I chickened out because of that nub at the bottom, where the connector is. Some reviews said it wasn't that durable. I was also concerned about how it would feel in my pocket. Signup for they're newsletter and they send special promo codes from time to time. I would love to here more from anyone on this forum who's actually using it.
I have tried several - two "cheapies" from China, and one from Nokia. The Nokia - I think that it was the DT900 - is king. It gets its power from the mains, which delivers 12V to the charging pad. That would not a problem in the car - no shortage of 12V.
I bought this one at Amazon. It also has a backup battery for double phone life. Qi works great in my 2016 Prius. $34.99 Search on this string of text: iPhone 6/6S Battery Case by xLife - Portable Charger for iPhone 6/6S (4.7 Inches) [Built-in Qi Wireless Charging Receiver] [Exchangeable Battery] [Genuine MFI Apple Certified] [Extra 110% Battery Life]
I saw this one being sold from IKEA for $25. I can't seem to post a link but search for IKEA VITAHULT. I don't know how well it works, but it's an affordable option from a physical vendor.
I thought the QI Charger would charge the phone without a special case or with no case at all. I just bought a 5s for that purpose (wireless charging). So now do I need to buy a special case?
Some phones (such as LG G3, Samsung S7, etc) are manufactured with wireless charging capability already built into the phone. For phones that do not have this capability (such as iPhone 5S) you need a special adapter/case for the phone.
No iPhone has wireless charging capabilities, so far. You need to get a Qi charging case, they don't cost much. I paid mine like 15€ and I use it when on long trips.
Ah, drats! Guess I'll need to invest in one of those cases for the phone I bought for my car. I bought the 5S because it was not the latest greatest newest phone out there, so I didn't have to pay much for it. However, the salesman strongly suggested I buy the really tough waterproof, shock proof, drop proof case for it as these were also going for cheap. So now I have a really nice case that won't work with the phone I bought to work with my Prius.
Another case of bad luck I fear, but at least you're lucky to have your Prius. I'm still holding my breath!
Check out eBay. There are charging pads that can get attached between the phone and a case. They are usually under USA 10. They won't work if the case is too thick. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
How about the Incipio ghost battery case with Qi? Anybody used this one ( with an iPhone 6)? I don't think I can live without a battery case- only have to charge every 3-4 days. My case fits around my phone, and leaves a micro USB ( not Apple) port for external charging.
