DTC C1310, VSC and Slip lights--Brake Actuator?

    Upon startup of the 2006 car yesterday, the red triangle appeared, along with the VSC and slip warning lights. Found DTC 1310. According to one troubleshooting guide, this DTC results from "Open or short circuit of active brake booster solenoid circuit." See page 13.

    The VSC and slip lights did not return with a subsequent startup, but the red triangle remains.

    Is this the brake actuator failure described in the warranty enhancement?

    For them to investigate booster failure (under the warranty), will I have to arrive at the dealer with all of the lights on, perhaps including ABS and Trac?

    Does anyone know?

    Edit: I now realize the brake booster is separate from the brake actuator, so the troubleshooting guide doesn't help. Can this still be an actuator problem?

    DTC C1310 is logged by the skid control ECU and means there is a problem with the hybrid drivetrain. You are supposed to retrieve other DTC logged by the hybrid vehicle ECU to get a clue about the problem.

    Hence, this is unrelated to the braking system.

    I did find another DTC: S305-22. Any idea what that means?

    That is not a DTC.

    A DTC has five characters. It starts with an alpha character, usually P for powertrain, B for body, or C for chassis. That is followed by four hexadecimal characters.

    What are you using to retrieve the DTC? I assume you are not using Mini VCI, which you should obtain if you are serious about working on Toyota vehicles.

    Yes, that's what I'm using. Now the only code is P3000, Battery Control. The C1310 code is absent, as are the caution lights. But the triangle still appears. I would have been suspecting the 12V battery, but it was replaced a few months ago. Is there a connection with C1310? Or should I be looking at traction battery voltages?

    From P3000 Battery Control System FFD, Detail Code 2 is 123. Does that reflect this fault?: Input of abnormal signal from battery ECU (HV Battery System Malfunction)

    All battery voltages are within 0.05V. I'll have to see how they look following a sustained load.

    Edit made to clarify FFD info and add battery voltage variance.

    P3000 is logged by the hybrid vehicle ECU and indicates an abnormal signal from the traction battery ECU. Either the battery itself or the ECU apparently has a fault.

    After you've tried a load test you may want to physically inspect the wiring inside the traction battery case, looking at the voltage sense wiring and the wiring harness connectors leading to the ECU. Remove the connectors, to see if corrosion or other obvious faults are present.

    Aux battery at 11.5V before startup. Hmm.

    New aux battery ordered. Salesman immediately agreed the battery is bad. Hopefully that resolves everything.
