A 2000 Volvo S40 Turbo. Best trade-in I ever made. Volvos are crap since Ford took over. Can you say "burning oil after 35K miles?"
1988 Nissan Stanza. Somewhere over 100,000 miles. I had been waiting a few years for it to die so I could buy a Prius, but I finaly had to give up because it refused to die. I gave it to a friend of my fathers, so it's still on the road.
I drove a 1996 Saturn SC2 coupe. You need to test drive a Prius. Not only will it meet the criteria you set, it will exceed them.
1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, 5.2 liter or was it 5.8, big drank gas for a living, lots of mods ... b
We traded in a 2001 Maxima on 2006 (base model) toyota prius its growing on us sure it does not have the git u ngo like the maxima did but im enjoying mpg maxima got 16mpg lol
Hello all. I drove a 1999 Lincoln Town Car (shhheeeeeessss 300+$ a month in gas! ), I also had a 2004 Mini Cooper S (fun as all get out ). I sold the Mini couldn’t afford payments on two cars, and traded in the Lincoln. My Prius is fun handles well gets great mpg, at this rate ill be paying around 75$ a month for gas  . I have a great commute ifor work so im averaging 52-54 mpg each way B) . So far I love my Prius only a few minor complaints as always with a new car nothing major (eg no mute button for stereo, cruise control resets after a stop, and the location of the second power plug in the arm rest.) but those are like I said little things that u get with a new car.
Thanks to all for the great replys, especially the suggestion from Mike. M to go and rent one. Well that is not easy to do around here but I did find one in Las Vegas. made the reservations for a room and a Prius rental for 3 days and I'm more excited about driving the Prius than hitting those tables and race books.... The rental car company is Fox rent a car.
Good choice- Fox rental- did you notice (usually) on their website is a discount coupon? Previous car - 86 Nissan 300ZX (hatchback)- 245,000 miles and still have it as a backup for other car.. We rented a Prius to try it on the drive to Vegas before we bought it , and after driving around home, then 300 miles to Vegas and only using 6 gallons we were sold. Did well on the Baker hill also. Took 4 months back in 2004 to get one , but worth it!
02 Nissan Maxima I was sad to see it go, but I didn't need 3 cars. The Maxima had tons of power but didn't handle very well (maybe its size and soft ride added to that perception). The Prius is generally adequate in terms of power, but there are things (times when I need to pass or get around someone) I'd do in my Z or Max that I don't even bother w/on in the Prius. I feel the Prius has a significantly firmer ride then the Max it handles better than the Max. It's nowhere near as stiff as the Z.

My only intention for getting the Prius was the HOV stickers. I currently drive a 68 Pontiac Firebird (on the weekends) and was driving a Pontiac Grand Prix GTP to work everyday. I sold the Grand Prix and dearly miss the handling. I received my HOV stickers 3 weeks later and realized that I was getting 40-48 mpg with the same speed and driving habits as before. The d@mn car has grown on me like a fungus. This is the only car, besides my 68, that I have ever washed let alone HAND wash every week. And I am considered a "car girl". I love my Prius, but I will love her even more when she is painted purple! B)
Had a 2000 saturn LS1, liked it alot, averaged 30 mpg. The Prius leaves big SUV's in the dust when starting up from near stops.....then I strive for glide........ Lots of pick up - no complaints so far!
I had a 1994 Ford Exploder (that is not a misspelling) but still loved it a lot. At the end it was getting about 12-15 in town and was slowly eating me alive in minor repair bills. Wildkow
The car I sold to buy the Prius (Tideland Pearl #8) was a 99 Lexus GS300, Great car, my sister has it now and with 150000 miles on it, it runs like new. But I've gone from 20 MPG to 50 and I love the technolgy and with the BT Stiffening brace, it handles fantastic. Today we went to a nursery and bought a bucn of things I thought I was going to have pay them to deliver, but we got it all in the car....... 4 large potted plants, one bag of planting mix, hanginf plant, and two 7 foot trees, Unbeleivable
I traded in my 2002 Saab 9-5 for the Prius...and I don't think I will be buying anything other than Prii for a very long time... A fully loaded Prius has most (if not all) features of the top luxury cars, in addition to the obvious advantage in the MPG. It just makes more sense... at least in my head
