I read online that the Prius Gen II is only capable of interfacing with the phone part of an iPhone. Someone on Yahoo Answers suggested this product. What's the most common way to hook up to stream music from one's phone?
Yup, gen 2 is only for BT voice. I use this product. I recommend it if you only care about BT audio. If you want it for BT voice then it is not ideal because the microphone is too low due to the location of the 12V socket in the Prius.
I just use the auxiliary plug in the console assuming your car has one. A little hassle to plug/unplug each time, but the sound is good. I did have to buy an inline noise reducer though to cut the static. dave
Hello all! New to the Prius word here, but loving it! I was really shocked at the noise you get when charging and having the AUX plug in! and way around that?
Ditto! You can get an expensive insulated cord or you can do what I and get a BT AUX adapter. ~$20 On Amazon.
There was actually a recall /TSB on this issue. I had the work done several years ago. Check the TSB section of prius chat for details.
that parts for this tsb are stupid expensive, and Toyota has closed it, so they won't take care of it. for about $25 you can get a "ground loop isolator" cable, which helps a lot.
