Last Tuesday my 2012 Prius C brake system failed while I was driving to work. Multiple emergency lights popped on and the brakes lost pressure. I got it towed to the nearest Toyota dealership in Ann Arbor Michigan. That same Tuesday I was told it would cost $3,200 to fix the brake booster. The car has 114,000 miles on it and I have done regular maintenance throughout.

Toyota told me a day or two later they are considering providing some "assistance" with the repair....here I sit about 9 days later after making almost daily phone calls to the dealership or customer care with no assistance and just the promise "we are looking into it."

Has anybody heard of this issue or have any ideas how to reduce the cost? I looked into other mechanics and they are willing to do it cheaper but I have not had any success finding used parts. I'm not that handy and don't really have the tools or expertise to try and attempt this myself.

No luck finding the part unfortunately and I've been working with another repair garage and they can't find it either. I can get the part significantly cheaper than what Toyota quoted though.

The other problem is I don't have a 3rd car so I'm basically bleeding out $50/day on rental cars. Which means on top of the repair I'm another $400 in the hole today.

I have. They are friendly enough but obviously stalling for some reason. I get the "we are looking into it" or we are "waiting for the rep to call us back." Same crap each time I call.

Actually no because we moved recently. This is a new dealer that I've only been using recently.

Is this the correct part number? Brake Booster Pump Assy 47070-52020 I see there are a couple used pumps on ebay, including one for $80.00 .

EDIT: The above part number might not be correct but Ebay has several different part numbers available for the 2012 Prius C.
