The aircon on my 2006 prius does not work. When switched on nothing happens, no relay click, no noise, compressor stays quiet. I have checked and no power is going to the wires supplying the pump. I thought it might be a fuse or relay but cannot see which ones supply the aircon.
Power for the compressor comes directly from the inverter. The inverter gets its commands from the AC module located center console on the floor. There may be a couple things going on here: 1. Your switch command on the steering wheel may not be getting to the AC module. Have you tried turning it on from the MFD? If it works there, suspect the steering wheel. 2. AC module is at fault. This will have to be troubleshot by the dealer. 3. It is possible that the signal from the AC module is not getting to the inverter. If you want to try to troubleshoot this yourself, I could provide you a wiring diagram. Beyond that you'll have to dig for these wires and locations. If you're interested, IM me.
It doesn't work if I use the MFD, it changes to recirculate as it thinks the AC is on but no power to the compressor still. The wiring diagram would be very useful. Does it include any fuses or relay I can check?
Yes, the blower and everything works, there is simply no power going to the electric compressor so the air is warm. The system seems to think that the AC is on as it automatically switches the airflow to recirculate when you try to turn AC on and the AC button on the MFD stays lit. The system seems to be pressured up OK.
Most like there is a leak in the system and low on refrigerant and preventing the compressor from running.

Have same problem. Local mechanic checked refrigerant, level good, but no change in pressures when AC turned on. Dealer says there's a relay that operates compressor's clutch: can anyone give me detailed instructions and maybe picture with the relay circled? Don't want to have to take to dealer if can avoid.
