There is no way I'm going to pay 400+ dollars for the navigation data using date from Toyota, and I then I discovered there are companies like Otto Navi, advent, and Rosen, who make aftermarket units to simulate the OEM aesthetics exactly and fit each model vehicle perfectly, but with a more up to date nav, and with connections designed to fit perfectly so that all steering wheel buttons work as if it were OEM. I have been eagerly waiting for Android Auto to come out, and if you don't know what that is, you can check the links below : Android Auto Android Auto So here is what I am hoping for: An android auto system designed to flawlessly fit the Prius v. I would pay at least a grand for something like that, in a second! My question is, does anybody have any Intel on whether this will happen, is likely to happen, is happening already.. Or any Intel on any other companies that would be likely to make this? Thank you very much for your time SM-T700 ?
Any luck finding something? I'd love to rip Entune out of my 2016 Prius v and replace it with Android Auto unit.
Most people told.me not to do it because of all the embedded functionality it has, like controlling the timing in autolockinfmg the doors, whether to lock on park or on acceleration, etc. So i gave up and stopped looking SAMSUNG-SM-N915A ?
I just bought a Prius a week ago, 2012 v package 5. First thing I did was replaced the factory head unit.. I have a Pioneer NEX-4100 in my other car, it's a little older but more affordable than the 4200 series which has very few additions. It comes with Android Auto and Carplay. It works fantastic.. You do lose some options like setting the door lights, light settings, etc. I'm of the mindset how often do you change those. If I can I can take the radio out in 10 minutes. Since I have the JBL amp I interfaced with it using a harness, i'm not that impressed so i'm gonna buy an AMP and replace the stock speakers and tweeters. I tried using an interface also for the USB jack, it didn't work for android auto at least which I was aware of, I ran a 6 foot cable into the console. If anyone needs help i'll be glad to help out. Oh, I also installed a stereo wheel control to retain those. Greg
Greg, I would be interested in seeing pics of the install if possible. Also, does your backup camera work still? Any problems with steering wheel controls or bluetooth phone?
Forwarning advice: Don't do as I did - install the Android Mate app without having it in the car, too. I didn't pay attention, so it changed my Admin Permission settings that took me way too long to fix to get uninstalled finally off of my Note 4 cell phone. I hope that helps save some people headaches from it happening to them, too.
Greg, very nice. I am installing Pioneer AVH-4201NEX (comes with backup camera too) myself that I bought from Crutchfield. Does anyone know where are the reverse and parking break wires in 2013 PRIUSV? Need to locate these wires for the install.
My project is done with success. Crutchfield team helped along the way. Great head unit: Pioneer AVH-4200NEX
Heya! Did you end up doing just a dash or did you add any sub/amps? Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I'm thinking of buying a second hand Prius V and of course I'd like to install a CarPlay unit. Is it better to look for one with JBL audio or without in terms of sound quality? In my Prus Gen2 with JBL I used Sony XAV-AX1000 and TYTO-01 JBL converter. The improvement in sound quality is big compared to the factory unit.
