Yesterday in the mail was a recall notice for my 2014 Prius 3. I purchased this car new in the middle of March 2014. There was already much to do being made about the software recall at that time so I am sure any software update would have been done at the dealer before delivery. Twice during the "Free" service appointments I was informed it might take longer than expected to do the service if the software update had not been done. Just a couple of weeks ago I checked the Toyota website to see if there were any recalls due to the Takata air bags. I entered my Vin # and it showed no recalls on my car. I just went there again and entered my vin since I had received the recall notice, and it shows no recalls? The recall notice says " Certain 2010-2014 model year Prius Vehicles Software Update for Motor Generator ECU and power management ECU" Why am I getting this Recall notice now? Why does it not show up when I enter my vin on Toyotas website?
More importantly, WHO is the letter really from? Toyota Motor Sales USA, The distributer - Gulf States Toyota, or your dealer?
My inverter software update letter is dated March 2014. Maybe some 2014's missed the update? Check with your dealership?
I just had this update done on my 2010 this week. I never got a letter about it, and I only knew about it from the priuschat web site. I was just really lazy about taking the time to set it up.
