Voice texting

    Has anyone found a way to reply to texts via the voice commands feature by dictating the response? Other than the predefined responses?

    I have an s7 edge and the feature is available on my phone, but it does not appear to be available from the car (at least that I have been able to find) which is fairly aggravating.

    Has anyone else had any luck getting this to work?

    Was wondering that myself. It says text message on the big screen but no way to access while driving. Have not checked to see if it works after stopped.

    Yes - if you have an iPhone, you can activiate "Siri hands free" by holding the "off hook" button for a couple of seconds. You may want to try it with the Samsung, and see if that works for you.

    The car has no provisions for it but there's nothing to stop the phone from implementing it. Oddly enough, it works fine with Cortana on my windows phone. It reads and dictates my reply text. It doesn't work at all on iPhone or Android. Doesn't read my texts at all.

    I have an Edge S6 and the Prius reads my texts to me while I'm driving. I haven't tried responding yet though.

    It will read my text messages, but I would like to be able to reply verbally with something other than the canned responses.

    I will have to try and hold the off hook button to see if that works.

    Nobody has texted me yet while driving. So I don't know what happens when receiving. But I have sent a text through Siri Hands Free (just holding down the button until the Siri tone)... then saying something like "Send a text to John" and she says, "What would you like the text to say?"... etc. Surprisingly, it works really well! :)

    I don't miss the perceive perception that I needed CarPlay. Pretty darn happy with it. (y)

    The message pops ups up on your head unit with an alert tone. You can press the play button on the screen to hear the message or hold the phone off hook button down for a couple of seconds. Then just say play text.

    Next test. However when I get a text notification while driving the screen on the Prius stays on you have a text message. Tried pushing the message notification GUI and nothing happens.

    Do you have an iphone5 or higher?

    Press the play button on the screen. It should work.

    I assume you mean the Prius screen. I get a message saying you have a message and a GUI right below it that goes nowhere.

    Did not work while the car was moving for a text message only. Have not tried a voice message.

    OK, Cortina works fine but actual text messages on the Prius display does not work so far. Could not replicate text message received between two iphones on the Prius display. Voice is fine and like that feature.

    Cortina is actually pretty cool.
    I have to do another test as I think it said read or display text message.
