Well duh. I've walked out of a dealership when they charged be freight twice (it's $1,500 in Canada so it's $3,000). They claimed they do it for all transactions, which may have been true but that doesn't make it right.

There are too many Toyota dealers to put up with that kind of crap.

One needs to do basic due diligence before walking into any car dealership.

I'm not aware of different rebate types. All I know, is last month the $1,000 Cash Back (at least in my region) comes off the deal at the very end... after the DMV fees & Sales Tax. It would be better IF it came off before the DMV/Taxes. But it doesn't work that way and would only be a small difference.

When I use my debt card shopping... it always asks me if I want Cash Back - that's the kind of Cash I'm talking about .

Seriously you're right... probably like the difference between Cash Rebates and Cash Back. Toyota is always the Cash Back kind.

    Yup.

Well I'm not sure it's disclosed to the consumer. It might just happen in the background. We just see it as a rebate or discount of some sort.

Up here, most cash backs are on the MSRP before sales tax. For Toyota, it's usually a cash back offer or a promotional finance/lease rate. The promotional rate is usually the better option unless you're able to get employee pricing (or better) at the bank or you pay cash for your car.

Well it was clearly disclosed in my deal upfront. More than one dealer said it had to be done that way. Since I was a cash buyer, I was just concerned about the OTD price. I even cross checked there math with the California DMV. It's all good.

My point was IF the cash back had been $1,500 (like this month)... the dealer would have adjusted his price accordingly to keep me at a similar OTD price. It's all good... I got the deal I wanted!

Here is the current disclosure (for our region) on the June Cash Back offer (good thru July 5th). Again it's only for cash buyers. But they are continuing with the Zero APR again as well... and can not be combined with Cash Back.

Disclosure: Offer ends 07-05-2016, cannot be combined and is subject to availability. Cash back from Toyota Motor Sales USA, Inc. Varies by region. See participating dealer for details. Does not include College Grad or Military Rebate. ToyotaCare covers normal factory scheduled service. Plan is 2 years or 25K miles, whichever comes first. The new vehicle cannot be part of a rental or commercial fleet, or a livery/taxi vehicle. See participating Toyota dealer for plan details. Valid only in the continental U.S. and Alaska. Roadside Assistance does not include parts and fluids. Does not include taxes, license, title fees, insurance and dealer charges.

As I just bought a prius on the 30th, Toyota rolled in $1500 rebate haha could have saved another $500...
