Have you decided on color scheme? Aside from the mod party tomorrow, I don't have any appointments now. PM me when you're ready to nail down the deets.

Pictures don't give justice to the LEDs. They can be appreciated more if seen live in action.

I got the Bi-color LEDs ready for the next mod party. Mostly blue-red and some white-blue.

I have made some revisions & updates to the "Shopping List" post.
Blue led dash conversion | Page 4 | PriusChat

The main difference is that I'm suggesting Oznium 0805 type LEDs for Toyota head units.

So, you want your passenger side lock switch to illuminate the same as it does on the driver side?

    upload_2016-6-11_18-21-50.png

Just because it doesn't illuminate now doesn't mean it can't. Let's take a look inside.

    upload_2016-6-11_18-23-7.png

So, evidently this switch is designed to illuminate in some cars. Just not the Prius (or my wife's Yaris).
I did some digging and I was able to find a Lexus CT200h switch that is the same, but different.

    upload_2016-6-11_18-25-0.png

You can see in the Lexus version of this switch there is a B15 zener diode, a 1.3K resistor, and an LED. The Toyota version has the same circuit board, but lacks the components.

Looking at the wiring harness inside the door handle, we also notice that the Toyota wiring harness lacks power for the illumination pin. upload_2016-6-11_18-32-54.png
To resolve this problem I scavenged a wire from an extra connector and stuffed it in the empty slot on the lock switch connector. Then I spliced that into the illumination line (white with yellow bars) on the neighboring window switch connector.

The last obstacle to lock switch illumination nirvana is getting the new LED light to pass through the opaque switch cover. (The Lexus switch cover is made of translucent plastic.)

    upload_2016-6-11_18-37-30.png

To deal with this, I drilled a tiny hole and added three lines of fiber optic to pass down to the inner realm where the LED lies. Cap that with a thick drop of slow drying super-glue and you're done!

    upload_2016-6-11_18-40-4.png

Ideally you should use a single, more thick, fiber optic line -- maybe 1/8", or 3/32".
