hello, im new here and I got a 2014 or 2015 Prius. The reason I'm here is because my prius free maintenance is expired after 25k mileage service. I am located in south California in Los Angeles. Longo Toyota rep says I can extend my maintenance for $300 for 4 more maintenance service or so. Being unemployed its tough for me to make a decision. Do I really need to pay the maintenance for my car? is there any other alternative? I was in the military service for 5 years honorable discharged. I couldn't able to find any help to get hire so therefore I must save every money I can. I am not a car expert. I am hoping there someone could help me giving me advice or direction or whatever you can. God bless you.
Based on what synthetic oil changes have been costing me for the 2012, $300 for 4 more sounds about like what it would cost anyway. So I'm not sure what you'd gain paying up front. Plus Toyota says you can do 10,000 miles between oil changes with the synthetic. I would probably steer clear just from the "or so" in their offer (what does that mean? Maybe another 25K miles?). At least that way you could spread the payments out.
welcome! 4 more services will be 30, 35, 40 and 45k. that's oil changes at 30 and 40. that's worth about $150. though you can sometimes find it cheaper. 30k calls for air and cabin filter inspection, and clean or replace. this is an easy diy, and if i were unemployed and short of cash, i would learn to do as much myself as possible. you can get plenty of help here. the other thing is tyre rotations, which run around $20. every 5k. again, you could learn to do these yourself, along with oil changes and other necessary inspections. thank you for your service, and all the best!
