I traded in my 2011 package 3 with navigation for a 2016 package 4 touring. I figured it would be a good time being Memorial Day and end of the month deals. Here's my old 2011... I'm gonna miss her. She was good to me giving great mpg and reliability. But alas it's time for us to part ways. Thank you for the 110K miles of good times. Now meet the new addition... Thanks to the forum members for sharing information I needed. So far she's been great. I do miss my JBL from the 2011. But the touring package has some nice goodies. Now to get a dash cover and tint.
I got a gen4 with all the bells and whistles, kept the 11 (4), the wife drives an X1 winters but summers a prius is perfect for travelling with animals, leave it on with the air conditioning and the animals are safe, the car hardly runs and we already owned it, ya-know, the gen4 doesn't keep the interior very cool, thinking better glass coating, but the gen3 is easy to keep cool.
I just noticed that the black plastic piece on the rear of your Four is different than my Three model. Yours looks better.
Ya it turns into a submarine haha j/k. I didn't know it was different. I thought all the Prius back had the black piece.
It's because his is a Touring model. Right, Coastal Cruiser... yours is not Touring? merged. It's called "Unique Rear Bumper Treatment" And it's also on the THREE if it's a Touring model. I guess it's just those "up turned fins"... maybe for aerodynamics... making up for the heaver 17" wheels? Just a theory - and I'm sticking to it!
Yes. I have the standard Three like this one. Here's a pic of the Three with the different plastic piece. I didn't realize the Four model was so different in the lower rear. I like the Four better. merged. I better not ever call my Penelope a "plain jane", she would get offended. She is beautiful in hew own way. (And she gets 199 miles per gallon! ) merged. I have medium window tint. And a Heatshield in the front & rear. Those really help. Getting ready for a serious test later this week, as temps will be in upper 80s.
Again... it's not specific to the FOUR. It is because of the Touring model (THREE or FOUR). And Touring is what adds that "Unique Rear Bumper Treatment".
Looks really nice! That's the color and tint I originally wanted. So many colors... too many good choices .
The place I got says it has infra red to better protect against UV and should keep the car cooler in the summer. I tried to look for info on it but couldn't find much. We'll see this weekend because it's gonna be toasty where I'm at.
Let us know how you like that 32% at night. I had about that (all around) on a Beamer (once upon a time). I plan to tint again as well, but haven't decided how extreme I'm going to go. Yes, we'll see if it gets crazy toasty this weekend like they've been predicting all week. I'm more coastal... and it's been unusually cool here! I'm ready for the heat (if it's not too extreme).
Drove around tonight and it's fine. My 2011 had 35%. The infrared doesn't come in 35% but 32%. I don't really see a difference with the 3%. I took pics but it doesn't really come out well. It looks way too dark in the pics but it's not bad. The moonstone interior is lighter than the other color option. And I didn't tint the front windshield so plenty of light coming. Some areas here cops will ticket for front window tint.
Congratulations , I've only seen one in West Michigan , and I don't know a touring from a whatever but love this forum for information ,,, yours looks fantastic ,,,
