    Red Giner & Eak354,

There is a separate thread here: Warranty for Hawaii? , in which I posted a response to a similar question a couple of days ago....I figured I'd just provide a link to it instead of copy/pasting the same info again here.

....Just picked up my Prius today. I havent actually paid for the vehicle/extended warranty. the dealership let me take the car home and will allow me pay for the car in a couple of days. (picking the check up from my credit union and delivering it the dealer in about two days).

...i have sifted through this forum about the extended warranty costs.
Mostly what i'm seeing is "Troy" is offering 900.00 for the 100,000 mile warranty.
The Toyota finance guy here in North Carolina said the extended warranty package would be around $1500.00. I said i would think about it and probably wouldnt be getting it because i planned on trading the vehicle in b4 the original 36,000/3year warranty expired.
....what i was really thinking was i would be getting the warranty from this other source for $990.00 and not until i was sure i would be keeping the vehicle past 36,000 miles.

....so i did a search in this forum "extended warranty" ...and i find the article that Danny (the founder of forum) posted on the $990.00 for 100,000 miles platinum warranty. When i click on the any of the links on that article it takes me to the http://www.toyotafinancial.com/ website. But when i drill through the website i find this "Toyota Financial Services vehicle protection programs are not available in the following areas: AL, AR, FL, GA, LA, MS, NC, OK, PR, SC, and TX. "

....i'm a little slow........does this mean i cant get the 100,000 extended warranty for $990.00?? ..or is the warranty offered through another entity?

...and if all the above is true...could i not buy a plan out of Virginia (couple hours away)..

.....ANYBODY ....PLEASE HELP!!! my finance guy said i have to make the decision buy the time i get back with the check!!!!!

The Toyota Financial plans just aren't available from dealers in those states, but you would have no problem with coverage. You just have purchase it from an out-of-state dealer where they are available...Like right here through PriusChat. :D

    ……………………….a continuation from 4 posts ago……………
..The Toyota finance guy (in North Carolina) really scared me today.....
i thought I was more prepared for his moves by reading other user experiences written in this forum..
....the finance guy at Toyota basically said this is my only chance to get the extended warranty & the other warranties offered through 3rd party vendors are not valid (he even directly referenced the warranties off this website)...he tried several desperate moves to hook me…..but I held on…

…to dispel the myth about the 3rd party warranty b.s. I called Troy directly. (I’m sure everybody knows he is an official Toyota warranty guy out of Massachusetts and can be reached at (413) 772-0231.)

    ..my problems have been alleviated!!!
….i can get the warranty anytime b4 the factory warranty expires (36,000 miles)

…..thanx Troy, you will save me about $900.00 ….i will be doing business with you soon…..

Hello, I got my 2006 Prius last Friday April 7. My dealer offered me a 7 year Vehicle Service Agreement for $1,300. I am a little bit confused about what this Service Agreement offers me compared to what the 7 year/100,000 mile warranty for $990 that is being offered on PriusChat. Also how would I pay you for this warranty and how exactly does this all work. It seems like a real steal to get it for cheaper here so how can you do that. It almost seems to be too good to be true. Please enlighten me on all this and just everything so I have a better understanding. Thank you.

    Signed,
    Zen (A hopefully future customer)

The service agreement has nothing to do with warranty other than it gives a nice record that you've done your part to service everything if you have a warranty issue.
Most folks do thier own stuff, like oil changes, air filters etc... not much other to do really... but its a good peace of mind thing if you want to avoid the hassle of dealing with it yourself.

The extended warrany is another thing altogether.

Actually, Service Agreement is the correct term for what is usually refered to as an "Extended Warranty". I think your getting it confused with the Maintenance Plan.

BTW, I just noticed you put Zaino down for a mod. How do you like it? I just ordered their show car kit for my own car.

Troy, I sent you an email as well, but thought maybe others may be in the same boat I am in...

I recently purchased the extended warranty for my '05 Prius...thanks for your help with that.

Well, we purchased a second car yesterday ('06 Corolla - new) and I was wondering if you know if I can get a discounted warranty for the Corolla?

    Thanks,

    Rick

Anyone that has been sent me an email in the last couple of days.....

I apologize, but we are switching servers and they are having some kind of technical problem with it. I haven't received my email since Friday night. I was waiting to post this....hoping they'd have it fixed now, but no luck and I don't want this to drag on. So for anyone thats emailed me in the last couple days, I'll need you to either re-send it in a day or two (I will post when my email account is back up), send me a pm, or give me a call so I can answer questions/provide quotes etc...

    Thank you!

    Troy,
I've sent you two emails (one Tuesday night) and both were returned. My question is whether I can get a discounted warranty for the new corolla we just bought. (I recently purchased the warranty for our prius).

Please reply to this post and let me know if it is possible.

    Thanks,

    Rick

Troy's email is still down, but I'll go ahead and answer for him - yes, you can get the warranty for the Corolla through him as long as it was bought as a brand-new car. The only service plans we can't get through Troy are ones for used cars.

What's all this $990 stuff? I just got 7 year, 100,000 for $817 from my dealer. Granted, it is a $100 deductible, but with one claim you're still $73 ahead. I'd consider the $990 a better deal only if there would be three claims - don't know the chances of that, but I'll take my chances with the deductible.

You got a great deal, but that is rare. Down here in Dallas everyone seems to be charging about $2400 for it, so $990 is a steal.

Who is the underwriter of your policy? If it is not the genuine article from Toyota Financial Services you may be a penny wise and a pound foolish. Too many after market extended warranty service providers are no longer around when you need them to pay for repairs. It happened to me with a such a policy sold by one of Southern California largest Mercedes Benz dealers.

can't say right now - policy is in glove box and car is at dealer's due to an encounter with a deer last night. lotsa damage. did get policy from dealer's finance dept. ("largest toyota dealer in midwest"), but don't think policy is from toyota financial services.

It's definately not, since a $100 deductible isn't an option with a Toyota Financial policy. Also, if it's not an Exclusionary type of plan, you may find that the majority of the high tech (expensive) parts aren't even covered.

OUCH, Sorry to hear about your car...and the deer.

I just picked up my 2006 prius two days ago and bought the 7 yr / 100K mile extended warranty from the dealer for around $950 ($100 deductable). The only reason I bought it from him was that he claimed that if I don't make any claims against it within the 7 year / 100K mile timeframe I will get the $950 back.... Hoping that is not just a line... Anyone have similar encounters?

I doubt that is a genuine Toyota warranty. As far as I can tell from looking at their Pricing Comparison web page, Toyota Financial Services offers plans with either no deductible or $50 deductible. They do not offer a plan with $100 deductible.
