Mine just failed this weekend. 145,000 miles, 2007 model. Repaired at no cost under warranty today thanks to being here in Cali. I bought it 18 months ago w/130,000 miles on it as a leap of faith after reading how many people go over 200K in theirs. Now I realize that on the net people tend to share success stories much more than failure ones......In any event I feel extremely fortunate.
Lucky you. I think my 2007 with 178k just had a battery failure and it won't be free to replace it. I'm trying to decide what to do with mine. Glenn
I don't know if I agree with the idea that people necessarily share success more than failure. BUT... I would expect that if you asked in a specific automobiles enthusiasts web-site, such as Prius Chat...something like is a 2007 Prius with 130,000 miles a good investment OR can I expect a lot more miles could be put on it? The answer is going to be very much YES, you can expect good reliability. Unfortunately, and I don't think anyone was trying to mislead you, predicting HV battery longevity is really a difficult thing. Especially with little more than total miles and an age of the vehicle to go on. Given the same numbers and age today? I wouldn't hesitate to tell someone upwards of 200k or more was possible. It does happen...often. It didn't happen with yours.... But look on the bright side...you got it "repaired" under warranty. So at least it you weren't stuck needing to make a total battery investment out of your own pocket. PS. What do you mean by "repaired"? I'm hoping this means "replaced". And hopefully with a OEM...new.
