I called the national Toyota number.....they had no clue. They said call dealer. Called dealer service....they had no clue. They said call sales. Called sales .....they had no clue.
When you walk up to your car, the car detects the key in proximity. This then tells the car to turn on the interior lights, thus a remote illuminated entry.
That is what my 2016 Prius 2 does. According to the Visual tables of Gen4 package combinations thread the 2016 Prius 2 doesn't have this option. Not to be mean but either one of three things explains this. 1. The thread is wrong. 2. This option was added to the Prius 2 recently. 3. The way you are explaining this option is wrong.
Just curious I guess. What you told me makes sense and is what I thought but when the spec's say that your car doesn't come with that option one gets curious. You would think Toyota would have an answer but they don't. Hopefully someone here does.
My car has this. I like it because I work a lot of nights and as I walk up to my car, the interior lights automatically turn on.
I took this as meaning the "puddle lights" that my Hybrid Avalon has mounted under the door mirrors. They illuminate the ground by the front doors when the fob approaches. The interior lights also go on - like my Prius does.
My interior lights come on when I approach with the key. I have the 4 Touring. In my mind, it does this because it recognizes me and is glad to see me. If I had more money than sense, I would get someone to install something so that it would talk to me and and say, in a deep, whispery voice, "My master approaches." And then when I open the door, "What is thy bidding, my master?"
Well so does mine. I have a Prius 2 but if you look at the sales brochure there is no mention of this option on a Prius 2, 2 eco and up ...yes.
No, not really. I believe I have found my answer. The only difference between the Prius 2 and all of the other models is that the foot well lights come on with the front reading lights when the owner is in the area of their car with fob in hand. That is the remote illuminated entry. Matter of fact the Prius 2 doesn'tt even come with foot well lights. Mystery solved.
My Gen3 has this feature as standard. When I walk to the car, the interior lights come up before I open the door. Because I have keyless entry on passenger side and trunk too, it works if I approach from any direction. I have come so used to this that I don't even notice it anymore. It is quite helpful and I hope it is standard on my Gen4.
