My 2012 Prius C came with Goodyear Assurance tires. At 68k, it was time to replace them. A local tire shop put in regular tires. MPG dipped BIG time! replaced it with Michelin Energy Savers, dipped even more. After few back and forth e-mails with Michelin HQ, they paid to have Goodyear Assurance tires in my car yesterday at a different tire shop (I refused to go back to original tire shop because they don't know what they were doing!) Oh guess what? as soon as I drive out of that tire shop with brand spanking new Goodyear Assurance tires to my home 21 miles: 56mpg!!! I haven't seen 50mpg in the last 3 1/2 weeks! always topping maybe 39, 40, rarely 44! Now I'm happy dude! My advice? Stick with the tires that came with your Prius if you can unless you know for SURE other tires would help with your mpg. Happy New Year!

Are Goodyear Assurance even described as low rolling resistance? I don't doubt you though: it seems like there are some sleepers in the LRR pack. So when replacement time comes I should Michelin Pilot MX MXM4 215/45R17? That's what came on ours. According to Michelin they're a few notches down for fuel economy. They seem to roll pretty easy though, maybe improving with age?

I originally had Goodyear Assurance and changed to Michelin Energy Saver at 45K miles. I'm now at about 65K miles and the MPG has been the same for me on both sets of tires, around 57 MPG. Maybe the shop installed them incorrectly or you had a defect.
There are so many different models of tires and if you don't get the exact one made in the exact same place your MPG is hosed.Same issues with me on Michelins. GY Fuel Max and the EP 20s deliver every time. Even had early tire wear issues with the Michelins as well as harsh ride at 42PSI. Learned the freaking hard way.
i had khumos on my gen 2 prius when i bought it used,, i wore them out. and when i switched to the michilen energy saver a/s tires i saw an increase in milage right off the bat, (only 1-2 more) and they are wearing well also, they have helped me get my mpg average up to 50 actual mpg, good tires i will re buy them , if my car doesnt wear out before my current set does im at 180k.
My GY Fuel Max has about 14k miles and they perform well in all reasonable road conditions that I find, even on packed dirty snow/ice with inflated tire pressure, and all around high fuel economy. I will likely stick with them for another 14k miles. So, how do the Energy Saver A/S feel (like, are they skittish) compared to GY Fuel Max? How do you think each has performed in rain and tight turns, and in snow?
That sucks! I don't normally buy Goodyear tires but I may stick with them after what has been said. Anyone had good luck with other brands?
Looks like the forum was down all day. I use Bridgestone for all my Prius's EP20. And 422 plus are good tires On a iPhone so texting sucks
I have been impressed with the quality and MPG of the new Bridgestone 422 plus on my two 2016 touring's. I was a EP20 freak but have now converted and repented.
