I have a 2012 PiP and I live in Florida... The outside temp shows negative 18 degrees when it is around 90 degrees. This has happened before and it took about a month or two for the problem to go away. Now the problem is back again. I could live with the fact that the temp shows incorrect, but because the temperature shows that cold the auto climate control turns on the heat when it is around 90 degrees outside. Thanks for any suggestions anyone may have.

Anyone know where the temperature sensor is on these cars?

I thought the ambient air temp sensor was in the fuel tank like it is the Gen 2 Prius.

i thought it was in front, near the bottom of the radiator. as to the o/p's problem, there have been complaints of slow temp change time, but not this iirc. not sure if it's the sensor or the computer though.

I found it in Toyota Hybrid System Diagnosis - Course 072. Section 3 Fuel and EVAP system.

Sounds to me like the thermocouple is broken maybe getting moisture causing a short until the moisture gets out
