Anyone know the type of bulb used for the Shift Lever Light and if there is any way to change it out? Personally, I feel the light is too bright and would much rather prefer a more dim, subtle light in another color (blue or amber) that is similar to ambiance lighting in other vehicles. any help would be greatly appreciated.
Here are two threads about swapping bulbs in that area: How to Change Front Map Lights. | PriusChat (see post #11, it says the bulb you are concerned about is an LED) IN CABIN LED SWAP A MUST (photo) | PriusChat It looks like fairly complex surgery to deal with something that matters only at night. How about taping some colored filter material over the light, at least as a temporary solution to see how dim you want it and what color? If you get a result you like maybe you could remove the cover and slip a bit of the filter material over the inside of the opening that lets the light shine downwards? Though it might get too hot in there and melt the filter material? All of this might be far simpler than finding a weaker LED bulb of the right color.
thanks for the suggestion. I was considering placing a colored filter over the light if the bulb replacement wasnt difficult. But as you mentioned, it may be more trouble than its worth. thanks for the prompt response!
I'm surprised you find it too bright. I don't even notice it. I wish it was a bit brighter sometimes.
Someone mentioned in another thread the spotlight seems to aim a bit aft of the shifter, somewhat into the porcelain white zone. Maybe the shifter was moved forward, and the light designer didn't "get the memo"??
My gen 3 shift knob don't even light up, not sure if it's supposed to or not. But that blue would look cool illuminated. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
The passenger seat has a more direct line of site to that little light even though it is aimed down. my wife complains of it being annoying.
I don't really notice those lights either... Until one goes out. The little orange footwell light on the passenger side is no longer amongst the living. Or maybe there was never one there? I better check my Meds.
