With the hot California summer coming up, I ordered this sun shield from the Prius Chat Shop for my 2016 Three model. The front shade fits like a glove. The material is not quite as firm as I'd hoped... but it sure fits well. Curious to see how it holds up to the scorching sun -- will it get all loose and limp? Claims it reduces interior temp by 40 degrees. I also bought the rear shield. It comes in 2 pieces to cover both the upper large hatch window, and the smaller window underneath. They too, fit very well. They are held in place by suction cups. (But two cups are missing. And the others seem to pop off too easily. )
There's a local add for a used gen 2 or 3 shade for $15 , was wondering if the other person said it would fit the gen 4 or not. LG-H901 ?
The Gen 2 Headshield sunshade does not fit a Gen 4 windshield. I had a 2004 Prius and kept the sunshade when I sold the car. I tried it in my 2016 and it did not fit. I gave the Gen2 version to a friend who still has a Gen 2 car.
This HeatShield is well worth the money. It's fits in the 2016 windshield perfectly. Sunshade HeatShield for 2016 Toyota Prius - Front - PriusChat Shop
My sunshade for the gen 3 is not working out for the gen 4. The bottom does not appear to be wide enough to get the whole windshield, the flaps for the little windows that aren't there anymore is useless and in the way. The slot for the mirror / camera / sensor in the wrong spot. EDIT: I was able to take a pair of scissors to the gen 3 sun shade and make it work quit well. By trimming off the bottom one inch (which is narrow) and by cutting off the side pieces that covered the little windows. I also cut out the mirror area to give it wide clearance to all the stuff in that region. The old reflector had a sewed on trim, now it doesn't, but it isn't delaminating. Also, it had a neat little velcro strap for storage, for which I had to substitute a small bungee.
The Gen 2 does not as we still have our Gen 2 windshield sunshade. I haven't tried the Gen 3. For a custom fit, I would buy one designed for the Gen 4.
Are those the spring-frame style sunshades? If so, do you like the coverage the provide and where did you get them? Much as I like the HeatShield style's protection, they are a pain to put away and reinstall. Thanks.
Re: Heatshield I've never used the spring-frame style. How and where do you store those? Yes, it took a few times of practice (and patience) to get that big heatshield rolled up nice & tight while sitting in the driver's seat. Then I place it on the back floor. My rear heatshield is left open all the time... I just leave it lay on top of the cargo cover. And the third, small heatshield for the little rear window is never taken out. I just leave it stuck in there. It blocks some of the blinding headlights.
In our cars, we slip them in the space between the driver's seat and the console or equivalent on the right or sometimes under the driver's seat.
