I ordered this universal magnet vent clip mount from Amazon, while I'm waiting for Proclip to release a mount for the 2016 Toyota Prius. I think it works really well and is well suited to running navigation on a phone. Your device connects to the mount via a stick-on piece of metal that I attached to both my device's cases. I also ordered the CD mount, because I wasn't sure which one I would use, but it blocks the touchscreen on entune and is basically not usable. I gambled on a magnetic mount (sorry can't remember the brand) for my Garmin. It really wasn't made to fit the air vent, but came with a flexible piece that just happens to fit and lock nicely in the Standard Prius Gen 3 air vent. So it works great. I love it. Since it really wasn't made to do this? I think I just got lucky. If the tab ever breaks? I'd have to go searching for something really designed to work. Nice to see there might be real options.
isn't it a shame that with all of the electronics that the auto manufacturers still can't develop a GPS application that works as well as Waze (or Google Maps) - and that we have to find ways to mount our phones when there's a lovely, large color touchscreen right there??
yes it is. and it's also a shame toyota didn't give us a useful spot for the phone on the gen 4. i can't believe we still need mounts and clips and stickers and magnets.
Is there a way to send google maps directions through the speakers because I got nothing when I tried? Although I also didn't have my navigation chip in at the time either.
You need to be on Bluetooth Audio with your phone as the source. If your phone is paired with the device, you need to go to audio and click the source button and select Bluetooth audio. If this still doesn't work you need to either pair your phone or select your phone from the paired device list. The commands won't be issued over the standard radio/cd player/satellite radio audio, so if you want to listen to music or podcasts or NPR one it needs to be playing on your phone. Also, you could run it over the aux cable and select aux as the source and the same rules apply, but I prefer bluetooth.
Thanks for the info, I'll definitely look into that later on. Is the magnet strong enough even when you go over hard bumps?
Proclip is offering a Center Mount Clip that can be mated to one of their phone holders. Also sold in the PriusChat Shop. ProClip Center Mount for 2016 Toyota Prius - PriusChat Shop Unfortunately for me, they don't have a spring-loaded phone holder since we need to switch phones and I need to search for one from a different manufacturer.
We tried a bunch of things including a Garmin bean bag mount and finally settled on this Aduro air vent mount as the least bad choice. Why not a magnet mount (sorry to be repetitive)? You could put one of the supplied metal strips on each phone and switch as needed no problem.
It's a peacock! Funny story is that I think the male peacock thought it was competition or something, because it kept circling the car.
You're lucky. Wild turkeys do the same thing here, except they peck at the car. I think they see their reflection in the paint and think another male is challenging them.
