Once you have the code how does someone find a defined solution , repair process, and part replacement. I am looking to resolve the following codes on a Gen 2 07 base prius. C1242 open circuit IG C1378 capacitor comm malfunction UG073 model control buss off U0123 lost comm with yaw sensor aka vsc U0124 lateral acelartion aka vsc U0126 steering angle sensor aka vsc U0293 hybrid vehicle control module
You've got a bunch of U codes, which pertain to different components in the car failing to talk to each other over the car's networks. Looking in the New Car Features manual for 2004 (first year of that generation), the "BODY ELECTRICAL - MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION" section shows the layout of the networks (plural: there's a CAN, a BEAN, and an AVC-LAN, with some gateways between them, as shown in the diagrams), and what components are connected by them and in what topology, so you can probably focus in on some points common to the codes you're getting. In the dead-tree version of the 2004 NCF, these are pages BE-48 to BE-66. If you're viewing online at techinfo.toyota.com there may not be page numbers, it'll just be the body electrical - multiplex communications section. In particular, from the table on BE-62, four out of five of the U codes you've got pertain to the skid control ECU. Your C codes might, also - that would be to look up in the brakes section. The multiplex comm section also shows what normal meter readings you should get on the comm networks and how to trace down a fault. You might, seriously, start by checking that the skid control ECU is, in fact, plugged in. -Chap
