LED DRLs in main headlight?

    Was just watching a foreign speaking YouTube video from "auto online" and noticed the headlights on their locality looked really neat. It had the boomerang LED bars above the main headlights as well as white light output at the top.

    I don't think we get those here ? Shame.

    Are you sure it was the daylight running light? Maybe it was "parking lights" as shown in my avatar. Though that photo is heavily photoshopped.

    those are only on the Touring models in the US... the standard models don't have that accent light. That was a deciding factor for me...

    We need to enable the parking light to be like that for the US spec ones. The tube boomerang is present but not sure what else might be needed. Might be an easy mod but then again might not be. Only say to find out is to remove a headlight.

    Edit. So they are on the touring us spec ones. Right.

    The amber indicators (turn signals) are the forward-facing parking lights instead. Note the boomerang area is unlit in the photo below. Instead, the indicator below the headlights is on.

    I thought the amber light in the top corner of the headlights were the DRL for those that don't have the white boomerangs activated enabled.
    Like you mentioned it's present but don't come on , like our version 4 non touring.

    That's the side marker light and it's illuminated on all models as required by DOT.

    The Prius is unique in that it has two sets of parking lights for Gen 3 and 4. Most cars have one parking light that is visible from the front and side.

    Right, so it appears that those versions that have the boomerang white light activated or type headlights don't have the amber top light?

    Either way, I'm basically trying to ascertain if it would be possible to fairly easily get the white L type shaped light working on models that don't have them .

    They do. It's used as indicators/turn signals on all versions. But you're right in thinking that they are off with the parking lights because the boomerang takes its place.

    Still would like to know what the two square protective color coded covers are on the front bumper. Think all my Prius' had this. tbd

    So that is what they are for. Never used one. Where is the supplied tow hook? never mind/on the tow truck I guess.
