I have the three touring and it was pre-programmed with XM 001, which is the free station with some interruption ads about joining their subscription for access to other channels and stuff. I thought it was the only channel available because I don't have a subscription service but I was poking around and realized there are tons of XM channels I can listen to based on genre and even sports. I thought we have to subscribe for them? So will these channels magically disappear one day? So confused but its great because the sound quality is so much better and they play the top 45 songs. HD radio is a hit or miss because of the signal.

Trust me when I say this, the XM people will be calling you if you gave your # to the stealer. There is no free lunch here.

Best of luck to you and enjoy your new Prius.

When your three months are up, call sirius customer service and ask for the 6 months for $29 deal if you want to continue with sat radio. I have done this every six months on two cars and I always get the deal (reluctantly on their behalf).

Once the trial is over, do I still have access to channel 001 XM? I don't mind the ad interruptions. I don't commute long enough to appreciate a subscription but the sound quality on XM beats HD radio.

I have done the same. You have to turn down two or three higher priced offers. But, they will get to the $5.00 a month offer eventually.

We were thinking of getting the streaming service and car, is there a deal on that? I see it is $14/month normally. We do Pandora but it has commercials unless you pay $4.99/month, which I did for a while.

Which package are you getting for $5.00 per month? The "music only" package that usually costs $10.99, or the $19.99 package that includes Howard Stern, or something else?

I never received any sales calls from Sirius XM. But they did send me 3 letters, and each one had a cheaper subscription price. (I don't recall the letters mentioning anything about "packages".) it came down to crunch time, so I went ahead and renewed for $79 for a year. I'm enjoying the XM and the 200(?) stations.

Pretty much dumped all mine as the HD radio is better and free. Also there is always BT off your phone with your MP3s.

Does your Sirius cut out going under a tree (Oak or any other larger tree for that matter? Mine seems to cut out way too easily and I did have Sirius on a prior car that I installed myself and never remember loosing satellite unless a large building was blocking the view. Keep in mind Sirius does have repeaters in large cities and I am no longer in a large city

All the time as well as just at random. HD is better.

I haven't even tried my HD stations. I carried an XM subscription for 20 years. I don't think I will subscribe after my trial period had ended. I've purchased over 500 albums during my life and they rarely get play time at home. So, I'll play them from my iPod. I will have to try the HD radio to make sure it works though. If I had cell service, I might go with Pandora. I do like that service.

Pandora is nice but a data hog. I am surprised at the quality HD stations and most have no commercials.

Yes to intermittent cutouts under the oak trees for satellite signal interruption. I have experienced it for many years as a satellite customer; but I consider it "goes with the territory". The quality of the satellite experience, and the absense of erectile disfunction commercials make it worth the occasional hiccup of the interruption (and the satellite fees).

I drive the same freeways all the time here in Los Angeles. The XM in my Prius cuts out at least twice as much as my 2014 bmw. Gotta be the system in the car.

Ok, here's the dumb question of the day...

How do I find all those free HD channels? Do I do a scan or something? I don't see any buttons that say "HD." When I press "source" I have 3 choices: FM, AM, XM.
