How do I turn off the display (speedo/HSI area) during the daytime? I can use the wheel to dim during the daytime but can only dim can't turn off the display like I can at night. I've tried turning the lights on and adjusting the wheel but sill can turn off all the way. I would like to turn it off and just use the HUD. 2013 Prius Four
+1 The dimmer is to affect brightness at night and when it dims during the day. It never turns "off." That'd be a safety issue.
I think he missed my last sentence states I have the HUD otherwise I wouldn't be trying to turn off the display. Either way case closed since I don't have the option to turn it off during the daytime. Thank you all
As the HUD isn't standard equipment, I suppose Toyota saw no point in having an "off" option on the dash as it would have to be designed for only two trim levels that have the HUD.
I can recall soon after we got our 3rd gen, driving in brilliant sunlight, in melting snow wet roads: good luck trying to read the cathode tube display, even cranked up to full brightness.
